Angelo State Softball Players Earn LSC All-Conference Honors

Six student-athletes on the Angelo State University Rambelles softball team have earned Lone Star Conference postseason honors for their performances during the 2021 season. Outfielder Courtney Barnhill of Lubbock, designated player Ashlyn Box of Christoval, infielder Madison Fernandez of San Antonio, catcher Keilei Garcia of Hemet, and infielder Ashlyn Lerma of Highland Village were all named to the All-LSC first team. Pitcher Makayla Corbin of Lewisville was named to the All-LSC second team. The No. 21 Rambelles begin play as the No. 2 seed in the Lone Star Conference Tournament on May 13 in Oklahoma City. Angelo State's Lerma Makes LSC Softball All-Academic Team

Ashlyn Lerma of Highland Village, an infielder on the Angelo State University Rambelles softball team, has been named to the 2021 Lone Star Conference All-Academic Team. To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.30 grade point average and have reached sophomore status both athletically and academically. The All-Academic Team is selected from the list of academically qualified players, with the league's sports information directors voting on the basis of both academic and athletic achievement. A junior majoring in finance, Lerma was also named to the All-LSC first team and won her first LSC Golden Glove at second base. See the story on the LSC website.

Angelo State's Baker Again Named LSC Baseball Pitcher of the Week

Trent Baker of Georgetown, a starting pitcher for the Angelo State University Rams baseball team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week for the final week of the 2021 regular season. In the opener of the Rams' three-game series against St. Mary's on May 7, Baker allowed just one run over seven innings to lead the Rams to a 5-1 victory. He notched seven strikeouts with no walks as he picked up his LSC-leading 11th win of the season. He also leads the LSC in strikeouts and needs just six more to tie the LSC career strikeout record. Angelo State Belles Tennis Players Earn All-LSC Honors

Six members of the Angelo State University Belles tennis team have earned Lone Star Conference postseason awards after leading their team to a second straight LSC title this spring. Zoe Gubbels of Velserbroek, Netherlands, was named the LSC Academic Player of the Year and Sportsmanship Player of the Year. Valentina Gonzalez of Medellin, Colombia, earned All-LSC first team honors for singles and was also named to the All-LSC first team for doubles along with her partner, Ena Ovcina of Tidaholm, Sweden. Also, Dianela Rodriguez and Maria Delgadillo of Mexico City, Mexico, and Virginie Becht of Vero Beach, Fla., were named to the All-LSC second team for singles - and Becht made the All-LSC second team for doubles along with Gubbels. Angelo State's Stroud Named LSC Softball Hitter of the Week

Mykayla Stroud of Aledo, a junior infielder on the Angelo State University Rambelles softball team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week for her performances during the week ending May 2. As the Belles swept a doubleheader over Lubbock Christian University on May 2, Stroud posted a 1.000 batting average, slugging percentage and on-base percentage over the two games. In total, she had four hits, two RBI and two runs scored, and and she was three-for-three in stolen bases. For the season, Stroud is hitting .325 with four home runs, 21 RBI, 19 runs scored and 14 stolen bases. See the story on the LSC website.

Angelo State's Baker Named LSC Baseball Pitcher of the Week

Trent Baker of Georgetown, a starting pitcher for the Angelo State University Rams baseball team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week for his performance during the week ending April 25. In the series opener at Cameron University on April 24, Baker tossed eight shutout innings to pick up his ninth win of the season. He allowed just two hits and struck out a season-high 13 Aggies batters, holding them to a .077 average. Baker is now 9-1 this season with three complete games and two shutouts. He co-leads the LSC in wins, is second in ERA (2.22) and is tied for second in strikeouts with 77 in 65 innings pitched. See the story on the LSC website.

Angelo State's Andrade Named National Track & Field Athlete of the Week

Decio Andrade of Camacha, Portugal, a junior on the Angelo State University Rams track and field team, has been named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTCCCA) NCAA Division II National Athlete of the Week for the second time this season. At the Oliver Jackson Twilight meet in Abilene, Texas, on April 21, Andrade threw the hammer a personal-best 235'-7" (71.82 meters) to take first place. That also set new ASU and Lone Star Conference records in the hammer throw - and is the third-best throw in NCAA D-II history. Angelo State's Ramos Named LSC Women's Field Athlete of the Week

Sara Ramos of Uvalde, a junior thrower on the Angelo State University Rambelles track and field team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 18. At the Cactus Cup meet in Kingsville, Ramos won the hammer throw with a personal-best throw of 185-0 (56.38 meters) that broke the ASU school record by a full eight inches. Her winning throw also helped the Rambelles claim the Cactus Cup title - and provisionally qualified Ramos for the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships. Angelo State's Armendariz Named LSC Softball Pitcher of the Week

Genesis Armendariz of Hobbs, N.M., a freshman on the Angelo State University Rambelles softball team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week for her performances during the week ending April 18. Over the weekend of April 16-18, Armendariz picked up two wins over Texas A&M-International and an 8-inning, complete-game victory over No. 17 Texas A&M-Kingsville. She pitched a total of 13.2 innings, posting a 0.51 ERA while allowing only five total hits and one run. She also notched 11 strikeouts and held opposing hitters to a .109 batting average. Angelo State's Box Named LSC Softball Hitter of the Week

Ashlyn Box of Christoval, a freshman on the Angelo State University Rambelles softball team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week for her performances during the week ending April 18. As the Rambelles swept five games from Texas A&M-International and No. 17 Texas A&M-Kingsville, Box batted .538 with a .615 slugging percentage and .556 on-base percentage. She collected seven hits, scored six runs and posted four RBI. Through 36 games this season, Box is hitting .407 with 12 doubles, two home runs and 28 RBI. See the story on the LSC website.

Angelo State Rambelles Soccer Players Earn All-LSC Honors

Nine members of the Angelo State University Rambelles soccer team have earned Lone Star Conference postseason awards after finishing the spring season undefeated and claiming the LSC title. Head coach Travis McCorkle was also named Coach of the Year. Avery McNeme of Lubbock was named LSC Player of the Year and Midfielder of the Year, and she also made the LSC All-Conference Team. Cassidy Hill of Forney was named Defensive Player of the Year and to the All-Conference Team. Gabby Villagrand of Spring was named Forward of the Year, and Bianca Troost of San Angelo was named Newcomer of the Year. Also for the Rambelles, Maddi Kyle of Wichita Falls, Cindy Rodriguez of Irving and Madison Stokes of Amarillo were named to the LSC All-Conference Team. Angelo State's Rodriguez Named LSC Women's Tennis Player of the Week

Dianela Rodriguez of Mexico City, Mexico, a sophomore on the Angelo State University Belles tennis team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for Week 9 of the spring tennis season. Over the weekend of April 9-11, Rodriguez went 2-0 in singles to help lead the Belles to wins over Dallas Baptist University and 17th-ranked Midwestern State. Angelo State's Garcia Named NFCA Softball National Player of the Week

Keilei Garcia of Hemet, Calif., a freshman catcher on the Angelo State University Rambelles softball team, has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) for her performances during Week 9 of the spring softball season. Garcia's offensive onslaught helped the Rambelles sweep weekend series over Midwestern State and Texas Woman's University April 9-11. Over the four games, she batted .700 (7-10) with four home runs, 10 RBI and six runs scored. She was also named the Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week. Angelo State's McNeme Named LSC Soccer Tournament MVP

Avery McNeme of Lubbock, a senior midfielder/forward on the Angelo State University Rambelles soccer team, has been named Most Valuable Player of the 2021 Lone Star Conference Women's Soccer Tournament. McNeme scored the game-winning goal in overtime of the championship game on April 13 as the No. 12 Rambelles defeated No. 1 Dallas Baptist, 1-0, to claim the LSC Tournament title at DBU's home field. Madison Stokes of Amarillo, a sophomore midfielder on the Angelo State University Rambelles soccer team, has been named to the 2021 Lone Star Conference Women's Championship All-Tournament Team. Stokes helped lead the No. 12 Rambelles to the LSC Championship as they held their opponents scoreless and won multiple overtime games during the tournament. Solis helped lead the No. 12 Rambelles to the LSC Championship as they held their opponents scoreless and won multiple overtime games during the tournament. As the Rambelles swept four games against Midwestern State and Texas Woman's University, Garcia posted a .700 batting average (7-10) with four home runs, 10 RBI and six runs scored. Her hits included a walk-off, two-run single that ended the final game against TWU. Through the Belles' 31 games this season, Garcia is batting .371 with six home runs and 29 RBI. Angelo State's Delgadillo Named LSC Tennis Player of the Week

Maria Delgadillo of Mexico City, Mexico, a senior on the Angelo State University Rambelles tennis team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for Week 8 of the spring tennis season. Delgadillo went 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles as the Rambelles defeated St. Mary's University and Texas A&M-Kingsville over the April 2-4 weekend. She has now won four straight singles matches and holds a 9-3 doubles record as the No. 12 Rambelles remain undefeated in LSC play this spring. See the story on the LSC website.

Angelo State's Siroki Named LSC Co-Field Athlete of the Week

Trpimir Siroki of Zagrab, Croatia, a junior on the Angelo State University Rams track and field team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Co-Men's Field Athlete of the Week for his performance during Week 4 of the outdoor track and field season. At ASU's annual David Noble Relays, Siroki took first place and hit an automatic qualifying mark in the decathlon with a score of 7,515 points. He currently leads the LSC and NCAA Division II in the decathlon. He also hit two provisional qualifying marks in the long jump (24-9, 7.56 meters) and the 110-meter hurdles (14.50). Angelo State's Elvir Named Baseball Regional Hitter of the Week

Josh Elvir of Kemah, an All-American outfielder on the Angelo State University Rams baseball team, has been named the NCAA Division II South Central Region Hitter of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) for the week ending April 4. During the 11th-ranked Rams' three-game sweep of St. Edward's University, Elvir hit .636 with three home runs, seven RBI and six runs scored. Through ASU's 23 games, Elvir currently leads the Lone Star Conference in hits (39), batting average (.448), slugging percentage (.862), on-base percentage (.561) and runs scored (41). Elvir was also named the LSC Hitter of the Week.

Angelo State Volleyball Players Earn All-Conference Honors

Seven members of the Angelo State University Belles volleyball team have earned Lone Star Conference postseason awards for their performances during the 2021 spring season that saw the Belles win their second straight LSC Championship. Five Belles earned LSC All-Conference honors, including Kailyn Gilbreath of Fort Worth being named LSC Player of the Year. Also earning All-Conference honors are Sophia Berg of Georgetown, Lindsey Ledyard of Cedar Park, Chloe Patton of Gillette, and Grace White of Helotes. ASU's Elsa Lamphere of Aurora, Colo., was named to the All-Freshman Team. Additionally - Berg, Gilbreath, Patton and Morgan Preston of Vicksburg, Mich., earned LSC All-Academic Awards. Angelo State's Elvir Named LSC Baseball Hitter of the Week

Angelo State's Allen Named to All-LSC Athletic Performance Team

Baleigh Allen of Katy, a senior middle blocker on the Angelo State University Belles volleyball team, has been named to the Lone Star Conference's 2021 Athletic Performance All-Conference Team. The team recognizes student-athletes who excel in work ethic, dedication to process, attendance, communication, leadership and growth. This year, it includes 24 student-athletes representing five men's sports and five women's sports. Allen led the Belles in blocks (57) and was fourth in service aces to help lead ASU to its second straight LSC Championship. See the story on the LSC website.

Angelo State's Miller Named LSC Soccer Goalie of the Week

Kira Miller of Frisco, a junior on the Angelo State University Rambelles soccer team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for Week 6 of the spring soccer season. In the Belles' final regular-season game, Miller made six saves to record a shutout as ASU beat Texas A&M-International, 5-0. She has not allowed a goal this season. Angelo State's Deysel Named LSC Field Athlete of the Week

Deoux Deysel of Dwaalboom, South Africa, a thrower on the Angelo State University Rams track and field team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week for his performances during the week ending March 28. Competing in the javelin at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Deysel hit a NCAA Division II automatic qualifying mark with a throw of 242-2 (78.82 meters). In a field made up almost exclusively of Division I competitors, Deysel finished fifth overall. He currently leads the LSC and Division II in the javelin. See the story on the LSC website.

Angelo State's Gilbreath Named National Volleyball Player of the Week

Kailyn Gilbreath of Fort Worth, a junior right side on the Angelo State University Belles volleyball team, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II Women's Player of the Week by the American Volleyball Coaches Association for her performances during the week ending April 1. At the LSC Tournament, Gilbreath posted 14 kills, 14 assists and 11 digs in the Belles' win over Texas A&M-Kingsville, and then posted a match-high 23 kills and 10 digs in their victory over UT-Tyler in the championship game. She was also named the All-Tournament Team MVP after leading the Belles to their second straight LSC title. See the story on the AVCA website.

Angelo State's Nunley Named to All-LSC Athletic Performance Team

Andre Nunley of Euless, a redshirt-freshman guard on the Angelo State University Rams basketball team, has been named to the Lone Star Conference's 2021 Athletic Performance All-Conference Team. The team recognizes student-athletes who excel in work ethic, dedication to process, attendance, communication, leadership and growth. This year, it includes 24 student-athletes representing five men's sports and five women's sports. Nunley played in 16 of the Rams' 18 games this season, averaging 5.5 points and 2.1 assists per game to help lead the Rams to their eighth straight trip to the LSC Tournament. Angelo State's Adrade Named LSC Field Athlete of the Week

Decio Andrade of Camacha, Portugal, a member of the Angelo State University Rams track and field team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week for Week No. 2 of the outdoor track and field season. Competing at the Wes Kittley Invitational meet, Andrade hit an automatic qualifying mark for the NCAA Division II Outdoor National meet in the hammer throw. His best throw of the day was 69.11 meters (226'-9"), and he is currently leading the conference and the nation in the hammer throw for Division II. See the story on the LSC website.
