ASU's Pendley, Reed Named LSC Baseball Preseason Players to Watch

Angelo State University Rams baseball players Chase Pendley of Prosper and Josh Reed of Midland have been named to the Lone Star Conference preseason watch lists heading into the 2026 season. Pendley, a senior infielder, was named one of the LSC Preseason Players to Watch after earning All-America honorable mention last season as a designated hitter. In 2025, he posted a .390 batting average with 47 RBI and 60 runs scored. He was also the All-LSC first-team DH and MVP of the LSC Tournament. Reed, a sophomore lefty, was named one of the LSC Preseason Pitchers to Watch. Primarily a relief pitcher last season, he made 19 appearances and posted a 3-2 record with three saves. He also notched 29 strikeouts to only eight walks in 24.2 innings pitched. Coming off a season where they fell just one win short of a trip to the NCAA D-II College World Series, the Rams are ranked No. 11 in the D2 Baseball Preseason Poll and have been picked to finish second in the LSC. Angelo State's Trotter Earns LSC Softball Preseason Honor

Tatiana Trotter of Lubbock, a senior outfielder on the Angelo State University Rambelles softball team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Preseason Player of the Year heading into the 2026 season. One of only four players to start all 61 games for the Rambelles last season, Trotter batted .330 with 14 home runs, 47 RBI and 53 runs scored. She also chipped in 10 doubles, two triples and 14 stolen bases, and she was a LSC Gold Glove winner in the outfield. She was named to the All-LSC first team and also earned NFCA and D2CCA all-region honors. Also a star in the classroom, the intelligence and analysis major is a regular on the ASU Dean's List and the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll, and she was named a 2025 CSC Academic All-American. After advancing to the NCAA D-II regional last season, the Rambelles are ranked No. 13 in the 2026 NFCA Preseason Poll. ASU Student-Athletes Named to LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll

Nearly 200 Angelo State University student-athletes have been named to the Lone Star Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll for their academic achievement during the fall 2025 semester. The Commissioner's Honor Roll is announced at the conclusion of each fall and the spring semester, with student-athlete qualification based on their grade point average for the specified semester. To be eligible, student-athletes must have a minimum 3.30 GPA for the semester and be on the institution's sports roster. Participants in all 19 LSC championship sports, three non-conference NCAA sports, and student staff who assist with athletic training, athletic performance and sports information are included among the honorees. Angelo State's Esquivel Earns LSC Basketball Weekly Award

Majik Esquivel of Lubbock, a sophomore guard on the Angelo State University Rambelles basketball team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week for Week 10 of the season ending Jan. 11. As the Rambelles swept road games over Cameron University and Oklahoma Christian, Esquivel averaged 32.5 points per game for the week. She scored 27 points against Cameron and followed that with a career-high 38 points against Oklahoma Christian. The commercial aviation major shot 47% from the field and 100% from the free-throw line over the two games while also posting seven rebounds, three steals and an assist. Angelo State University Announces Fall 2025 Dean's List

Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas, has announced the students achieving the Dean's List designation for the 2025 fall semester. To be eligible for the ASU Dean's List, full-time undergraduate students must maintain a 3.25 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale. ASU's Walton & Seaver Named Football All-Americans

Two players from the Angelo State University Rams football team have earned NCAA Division II All-America honors from the American Football Coaches Association for their performances during the 2025 season. Junior defensive back Xavier Walton, a kinesiology major from San Antonio, was named to the AFCA All-America first team, while graduate student defensive lineman Owen Seaver, a finance major from Lampasas, was named to the AFCA All-America second team. Walton was also named Lone Star Conference Defensive Back of the Year after leading the LSC and South Central Region with six interceptions. He was also second on the team with 68 tackles. Seaver was named to the All-LSC first team after leading the conference with 17 tackles for loss. Among his 51 total tackles, he also recorded 7.5 sacks to rank third in the LSC. ASU Volleyball Players Earn Academic All-District Honors

Three players on the Angelo State University Rambelles volleyball team have been named to the 2025 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team. To qualify, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. They must also be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, and must have played in 90% of the institution's matches or started in 66% of the institution's matches. ASU honorees are senior middle blocker Cate Boldrick, a psychology major from Austin; senior libero Ireland Ferguson, a marketing major from Venice, Florida; and junior outside hitter Madi Parrish, a finance major from Saginaw. Boldrick ends her ASU career ranked No. 7 in blocks and block assists in the team's rally-scoring era (since 2001). She also earned All-Lone Star Conference honorable mention for the 2025 season. Ferguson ends her ASU career ranked 16th all-time with 1,061 digs. She was an All-LSC second-team selection. Parrish is already ranked in the top 10 for career kills and service aces. Angelo State's Wallis Named Football Academic All-District

Hunter Wallis of Cypress, a wide receiver on the Angelo State University Rams football team, has been named to the NCAA Division II 2025 Academic All-District Team by the College Sports Communicators organization. A graduate student in interdisciplinary studies, Wallis was previously named to the Lone Star Conference All-Academic Team and also earned All-LSC honorable mention. He started all 10 games for the Rams in 2025, posting 27 catches for 472 yards and eight touchdowns. To qualify for the CSC Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. They must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, and must have played in 90% of the institution's matches or started in 66% of the institution's matches. Angelo State's Parrish Earns Volleyball All-American Honors

Madi Parrish of Saginaw, an outside hitter on the Angelo State University Rambelles volleyball team, has been named to the 2025 NCAA Division II All-America first team by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). A junior finance major, Parrish helped lead the Belles to Lone Star Conference regular-season and LSC Tournament titles and was MVP of the LSC Tournament. She was also named the consensus South Central Region Player of the Year, LSC Player of the Year and LSC Offensive Player of the Year. She previously earned AVCA All-America second-team honors in 2024. Additionally, Parrish has been named to the NCAA D-II All-America third team by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA). During the 2025 season, Parrish surpassed both 1,000 career kills and 100 career service aces. She is one of only six ASU players to pass both of those marks, and she ranks in the Top 10 all-time in both categories. Angelo State's Martinez, Harper Named USC Soccer All-Region

Two seniors on the Angelo State University Rambelles soccer team have earned All-South Central Region honors from the United Soccer Coaches (USC) organization for their performances during the 2025 season. Goalkeeper Melyna Martinez of San Antonio and defender Harper Saxon of Bluff Dale were both named to the all-region third team. Martinez, a management major, started all 19 matches for ASU this season and led the Lone Star Conference with 10 shutouts, allowing only 13 total goals. She was previously named the LSC Goalkeeper of the Year and to the All-LSC first team, and she also earned all-region honors from the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA). Saxon, an exercise science major, anchored the ASU defense that gave up an average of just 0.74 goals per game. She was previously named to the All-LSC second team and LSC All-Academic Team. Angelo State's Opare Earns LSC Track & Field Weekly Award

William Opare of Accra, Ghana, a sprinter on the Angelo State University Rams track and field team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for Week 1 of the indoor season following his performances at the Crimson and Gold Invitational on Dec. 6 in Pittsburg, Kansas. Making his ASU debut, Opare posted a meet record in the 400 meters with his time of 47.07 seconds, which is also the fastest time in all of NCAA Division II this year and the second-fastest in all of the NCAA. The marketing major was also part of the Rams' 4x400-meter relay team that posted a meet record of 3:07.92. It's the fastest time in NCAA D-II this season and the third-fastest D-II time ever. Opare and the ASU track and field teams will resume their indoor season Jan. 16-17 at the Corky Classic hosted by Texas Tech University in Lubbock. ASU Track & Field Athletes Named LSC Indoor Athletes to Watch

Four student-athletes on the Angelo State University track and field teams have been named Lone Star Conference Athletes to Watch heading into the 2026 indoor track and field season. For the Rams, senior sprinter Rami Balti of Tunisia and freshman jumper Brigs Jones of San Angelo were named LSC Men's Indoor Track and Field Athletes to Watch. Balti, who is pursuing his master's degree in coaching, sport, recreation and fitness administration, is a returning indoor All-American in the 400 meters and 4x400 relay. Brigs, a management major, is entering his first season with the Rams. For the Rambelles, senior multi-event athlete Kylie Frush of Glen Rose and junior thrower Kamryn Williams of Wall were named LSC Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes to Watch. Frush, an exercise science major, is a returning all-region selectee in the pentathlon. Williams, also an exercise science major, is a returning All-LSC selectee in the throws. The indoor track and field season will get underway in earnest Jan. 16-17 when the Rams and Rambelles compete at the Corky Classic in Lubbock. More details are available on the LSC website.

ASU Announces Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society Fall 2025 Inductees

Angelo State University's chapter of the Phi Kappa Phi (PKP) national honor society recently inducted its fall 2025 class of 81 new student members during a special initiation ceremony in the Houston Harte University Center. PKP is the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for students in all academic disciplines. Invitations to join PKP are extended to juniors in the top 7.5% of their class, and to seniors and graduate students in the top 10% of their class. ASU's Parrish Named Regional Volleyball Player of the Year

Madi Parrish of Saginaw, a junior outside hitter on the Angelo State University Rambelles volleyball team, has been named the South Central Region Player of the Year by both the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA). These are also just the latest accolades for Parrish following a stellar regular season. She was previously named Lone Star Conference Player of the Year, LSC Offensive Player of the Year, LSC Tournament MVP and to the All-LSC first team. The finance major ranked among the LSC leaders in kills, aces and points per set, while also ranking second on her team with 286 digs. She also surpassed both 1,000 kills and 100 service aces for her ASU career. With Parrish leading the way, the Rambelles won both LSC regular season and LSC Tournament titles. Angelo State's Martinez Earns D2CCA Soccer All-Region Honors

Melyna Martinez of San Antonio, the goalkeeper for the Angelo State University Rambelles soccer team, has been named to the NCAA Division II All-South Central Region second team by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA). The D2CCA All-Region Teams are nominated and selected by the region's sports information directors. The process concludes with All-American selections that will be announced later this month. Martinez, a senior management major, was also named the Lone Star Conference Goalkeeper of the Year after posting a conference-high 10 shutouts. Over ASU's 19 games, she recorded 59 saves and conceded only 13 goals for a 0.70 goals-against average. With Martinez anchoring the defense, the Rambelles went 9-5-5 overall and 8-3-3 in the LSC. ASU's Rasmussen, Saxon Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

Angelo State University Rambelles soccer players Graycen Rasmussen and Harper Saxon have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team for the 2025 season. The CSC Academic All-District Team recognizes student-athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or an important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA. Rasmussen, a senior forward, is a health science professions major from Burleson. She was an important part of the Rambelles' offense, scoring four goals, including three game winners. She was also named to the All-Lone Star Conference third team. Saxon, a senior defender, is an exercise science major from Bluff Dale. She helped lead the Rambelles' back line that posted 10 shutouts and allowed only 14 goals scored in 19 games. Angelo State Rams Earn Football All-Conference Honors

Sixteen players on the Angelo State University Rams football team have garnered 18 All-Lone Star Conference accolades for their performances during the 2025 regular season. Leading the way for the Rams is junior safety Xavier Walton of San Antonio, who was named LSC Defensive Back of the Year and to the All-LSC first team. He led the LSC with six interceptions and was second with nine pass break-ups while also recording 68 tackles, which was second on the team. Joining Walton on the All-LSC first team are sophomore running back Cameron Dischler of Orangefield and grad student linebacker Owen Seaver of Lampasas. Dischler led the Rams with 449 rushing yards and scored three touchdowns. Seaver posted 51 tackles and was among the LSC leaders with 7.5 sacks and 17 tackles for loss. Three Rams made the All-LSC second team: senior center Dalton Perry of Poth, senior cornerback Demetrias Charles of Channelview, and senior safety Marquis Brown of Hillsboro, Oregon. Ten of their Rams teammates earned LSC honorable mention, including: Viliami Salakielu of Houston - Offensive Guard Isaiah Mworia of Pflugerville - Offensive Tackle Zaleik "Zeek" Freeman of Grand Prairie - Wide Receiver Hunter Wallis of Cypress - Wide Receiver, LSC All-Academic Team Donny Bishop of Midland - Athletic Player Zach Burton of San Diego, Calif. - Defensive End Nathan Morcom of North Richland Hills - Inside Linebacker Alex Bouloubasis of New Branfels - Inside Linebacker Eugene Liger of Cypress - Cornerback Stefaan Forbes of Tulsa, Okla. - Punter The Rams finished the season at 6-5 overall and 4-5 in the LSC. Angelo State's Kirby Earns LSC Men's Basketball Weekly Award

Ja'Queze Kirby of Hazlehurst, Ga., a senior forward on the Angelo State University Rams basketball team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week for Week 3 of the season ending Nov. 16. As the Rams opened their 2025-26 home schedule with victories over Western Colorado and Adams State, Kirby averaged 10 rebounds, three steals and two blocks per game to lead the defensive efforts. Against Western Colorado, he posted eight points, seven rebounds, three steals and two blocks. Then against Adams State, he recorded nine points, a season-high 13 rebounds, three steals and two blocks. ASU Business Grad Students Win Gartner AI Case Study Contest

A team of four Angelo State University graduate students in the Norris-Vincent College of Business took first place in Gartner Consulting's inaugural Texas Case Study Competition that culminated Nov. 12 in Austin. The competition entailed teams of 3-5 graduate business students submitting real-life case studies on implementing artificial intelligence (AI) to increase efficiency and enhance operations across an unnamed Texas government agency. Gartner consultants acted as coaches for each team. ASU team members were Tatiana Alvarez, Ava James and Andres Ybarra of San Angelo and Katelyn St. John of Hamlin. Competing against 11 other teams from Rice University, Southern Methodist University, the University of Houston and the University of Texas, the ASU team won the preliminary round of the contest in October to advance to the finals in Austin. At the finals, the top three teams from the first round gave in-person presentations of their analyses and strategic plans to a group of five judges that included top IT exectives from several Texas government agencies. Angelo State Belles Earn Volleyball All-Conference Honors

Six players on the Angelo State University Rambelles volleyball team have garnered nine All-Lone Star Conference accolades for their performances during the 2025 regular season, which ended with the Belles as LSC co-champions and hosts for the LSC Tournament. Leading the way for ASU is junior outside hitter Madi Parrish of Saginaw, who was named LSC Player of the Year, LSC Offensive Player of the Year, and to the All-LSC first team and LSC All-Academic Team. The finance major averaged 3.63 kills and 4.22 points per set while also posting 258 digs, 38 service aces and 35 blocks. She is also just the sixth player in team history to eclipse both 1,000 kills and 100 service aces in her ASU career. Joining Parrish on the All-LSC first team is sophomore right side Demi Carter of Bridge City. Despite missing the first 17 matches of the season, the 2024 AVCA National Freshman of the Year returned with a vengeance and helped lead the Belles to a 10-1 record in the matches she played. Two Belles were named to the All-LSC second team - senior libero Ireland Ferguson of Venice, Fla., and sophomore outside hitter Julia Hopkins of Austin. Senior middle blocker Cate Boldrick of Austin earned All-LSC honorable mention, and freshman outside hitter Raelee Allen of San Antonio was named to the LSC All-Freshman Team. Angelo State Belles Earn Soccer All-Conference Honors

Seven players on the Angelo State University Rambelles soccer team have earned a total of nine All-Lone Star Conference accolades for the 2025 season. Senior goalkeeper Melyna Martinez of San Antonio leads the ASU honors as she was named LSC Goalkeeper of the Year and to the All-LSC first team. She led the LSC with 10 shutouts and was third in both save percentage (.827) and goals against average (.655). Junior defender Christina Clark of Trophy Club, senior defender Harper Saxon of Bluff Dale, and junior forward Sanai Stewart of Cibolo made the All-LSC second team for the Rambelles. Clark and Saxon led the ASU defense that recorded 10 shutouts and allowed only 14 goals. Stewart led the team with seven goals scored. Saxon was also named to the LSC All-Academic Team. Junior midfielder Portia "Lexi" Gonzales of Grand Prairie, senior midfielder Abby James of Lubbock, and senior forward Graycen Rasmussen of Burleson were named to the All-LSC third team. Gonzales had three goals, including two game winners. James scored two goals and led the team with seven assists. Rasmussen scored four goals, including three game winners. ASU's Murray, Little Sweep LSC Basketball Weekly Awards

Angelo State University Rams basketball players Jaqai Murray and Zyon Little swept the Lone Star Conference Player of the Week honors for the week ending Nov. 9 as ASU tipped off its season by going a perfect 3-0 at the D2CCA Tip-Off Classic in Billings, Montana. Murray, a senior forward from Brooklyn, N.Y., averaged 14.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game on his way to being named LSC Offensive Player of the Week. The education major also shot 60% from the field as the Rams defeated Nebraska-Kearney, New Mexico Highlands and No. 10 Colorado School of Mines. Little, a junior forward from Dickinson, was the Rams' leading rebounder as he averaged seven boards per game to claim LSC Defensive Player of the Week honors. The management major also averaged 8.3 points per game. The Rams will open their home schedule with games against Western Colorado and Adams State Nov. 14-15 at ASU's Junell Center/Stephens Arena. ASU's Parrish Wins Second LSC Volleyball Weekly Award

Madi Parrish of Saginaw, a junior outside hitter on the Angelo State University Rambelles volleyball team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week for Week 10 of the season ending Nov. 9. It is her second such weekly award this season. As the Belles completed road sweeps over Midwestern State and Lubbock Christian, Parrish totaled 33 kills over the two matches, averaging 5.05 kills per set on a .448 attack percentage. The finance major also contributed 27 digs, three service aces and two blocks to help ASU extend its winning streak to six matches. Parrish and the Belles are now 19-7 overall and 13-2 in LSC play. ASU Announces Alpha Chi Honor Society Fall 2025 Inductees

Angelo State University's chapter of the Alpha Chi national collegiate honor society recently inducted 23 new members for the fall 2025 semester during a ceremony in the Houston Harte University Center. Alpha Chi is one of the nation's most prestigious honor societies that is open to undergraduate students majoring in all academic disciplines. To be eligible, students must rank in the top 10% of seniors at their college or university, or in the top 7.5% of juniors. Angelo State's Ashcraft Earns LSC Volleyball Weekly Award

Gabi Ashcraft of Rockwall, a sophomore setter on the Angelo State University Rambelles volleyball team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Setter of the Week for Week 9 of the season ending Nov. 2. As the Rambelles went 3-0 for the week, Ashcraft averaged 8.20 assists per set, including a season-high 31 assists in the victory over No. 14 West Texas A&M. The elementary education major totaled 82 assists over the three matches, along with 25 digs. ASU's Parrish Passes 1,000 Kills Milestone for Rambelles Volleyball Team

Madi Parrish of Saginaw, an outside hitter on the Angelo State University Rambelles volleyball team, eclipsed the 1,000-kills mark for her career during ASU's victory over Western New Mexico on Oct. 28. Entering the match 11 kills shy of 1,000, Parrish notched 16 kills as the Rambelles swept WNMU on the road. She is just the 16th ASU player to record 1,000 kills and the first since Brianna Sotello in 2016. The junior finance major leads the Rambelles with 259 kills in 22 matches and is sixth in the Lone Star Conference averaging 3.36 kills per set. She has also chipped in 190 digs, 22 blocks and a team-high 27 service aces. Now sitting at 15-7 overall and 9-2 in the LSC, the Rambelles are back in action this weekend with home matches against Eastern New Mexico and No. 14 West Texas A&M. ASU's Martinez Wins Third LSC Soccer Weekly Award

Melyna Martinez of San Antonio, the starting goalkeeper for the Angelo State University Rambelles soccer team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for Week 8 of the season ending Oct. 26. It is her third LSC weekly award this season. As the Rambelles went 2-0 for the week, Martinez recorded two more shutouts to run her season total to nine, the most in the LSC. She also has seven shutouts in the last eight games as she helped lead the Rambelles to a road win over Eastern New Mexico, 1-0, and a home win over UT Permian Basin, 2-0. The senior management major has recorded 49 saves and given up just nine goals in ASU's 15 games this season, and she has not allowed a goal in her last 180 minutes of action. Angelo State's Williams Named LSC Basketball Player to Watch

Keniah Williams of Georgetown, a senior center on the Angelo State University Rambelles basketball team, has been named a Lone Star Conference Women's Basketball Player to Watch heading into the 2025-26 season. An interdisciplinary studies major, Williams was an All-LSC second-team selection last season and was also named to the LSC All-Defensive Team. She averaged 12.5 points and 8.7 rebounds per game in 2024-25 and led the LSC in blocked shots with 77 while shooting 53.5% from the field, which was fifth in the LSC. Williams and the Rambelles have been picked to finish sixth in the LSC Preseason Poll. They begin their season with two games at the South Central Region Crossover Nov. 14-15 in Colorado. Angelo State's Dobbins Wins LSC Football Weekly Award

Alan Dobbins of Del Rio, a redshirt freshman wide receiver on the Angelo State University Rams football team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 7 of the season ending Oct. 19. With the Rams riding a two-game losing streak, Dobbins helped spark them to a Homecoming victory over Midwestern State when he returned an onside kick attempt 45 yards for a touchdown. His return came in the fourth quarter after MSU had scored 14 straight points and helped the Rams pull away for the win, 48-28. The finance major is just the fourth player in the LSC to return a kickoff for a touchdown this season.
