ASU's Rasmussen, Saxon Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

Angelo State University Rambelles soccer players Graycen Rasmussen and Harper Saxon have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team for the 2025 season. The CSC Academic All-District Team recognizes student-athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or an important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA. Rasmussen, a senior forward, is a health science professions major from Burleson. She was an important part of the Rambelles' offense, scoring four goals, including three game winners. She was also named to the All-Lone Star Conference third team. Saxon, a senior defender, is an exercise science major from Bluff Dale. She helped lead the Rambelles' back line that posted 10 shutouts and allowed only 14 goals scored in 19 games. She was also named to the All-LSC second team. The Belles finished the season 9-5-5 overall and 8-3-3 in the LSC. See more details at angelosports.com.

Angelo State Rams Earn Football All-Conference Honors

Sixteen players on the Angelo State University Rams football team have garnered 18 All-Lone Star Conference accolades for their performances during the 2025 regular season. Leading the way for the Rams is junior safety Xavier Walton of San Antonio, who was named LSC Defensive Back of the Year and to the All-LSC first team. He led the LSC with six interceptions and was second with nine pass break-ups while also recording 68 tackles, which was second on the team. Joining Walton on the All-LSC first team are sophomore running back Cameron Dischler of Orangefield and grad student linebacker Owen Seaver of Lampasas. Dischler led the Rams with 449 rushing yards and scored three touchdowns. Seaver posted 51 tackles and was among the LSC leaders with 7.5 sacks and 17 tackles for loss. Three Rams made the All-LSC second team: senior center Dalton Perry of Poth, senior cornerback Demetrias Charles of Channelview, and senior safety Marquis Brown of Hillsboro, Oregon. Ten of their Rams teammates earned LSC honorable mention, including: Viliami Salakielu of Houston - Offensive Guard Isaiah Mworia of Pflugerville - Offensive Tackle Zaleik "Zeek" Freeman of Grand Prairie - Wide Receiver Hunter Wallis of Cypress - Wide Receiver, LSC All-Academic Team Donny Bishop of Midland - Athletic Player Zach Burton of San Diego, Calif. - Defensive End Nathan Morcom of North Richland Hills - Inside Linebacker Alex Bouloubasis of New Branfels - Inside Linebacker Eugene Liger of Cypress - Cornerback Stefaan Forbes of Tulsa, Okla. - Punter The Rams finished the season at 6-5 overall and 4-5 in the LSC. Angelo State Belles Earn Volleyball All-Conference Honors

Six players on the Angelo State University Rambelles volleyball team have garnered nine All-Lone Star Conference accolades for their performances during the 2025 regular season, which ended with the Belles as LSC co-champions and hosts for the LSC Tournament. Leading the way for ASU is junior outside hitter Madi Parrish of Saginaw, who was named LSC Player of the Year, LSC Offensive Player of the Year, and to the All-LSC first team and LSC All-Academic Team. The finance major averaged 3.63 kills and 4.22 points per set while also posting 258 digs, 38 service aces and 35 blocks. She is also just the sixth player in team history to eclipse both 1,000 kills and 100 service aces in her ASU career. Joining Parrish on the All-LSC first team is sophomore right side Demi Carter of Bridge City. Despite missing the first 17 matches of the season, the 2024 AVCA National Freshman of the Year returned with a vengeance and helped lead the Belles to a 10-1 record in the matches she played. Two Belles were named to the All-LSC second team - senior libero Ireland Ferguson of Venice, Fla., and sophomore outside hitter Julia Hopkins of Austin. Senior middle blocker Cate Boldrick of Austin earned All-LSC honorable mention, and freshman outside hitter Raelee Allen of San Antonio was named to the LSC All-Freshman Team. Angelo State's Kirby Earns LSC Men's Basketball Weekly Award

Ja'Queze Kirby of Hazlehurst, Ga., a senior forward on the Angelo State University Rams basketball team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week for Week 3 of the season ending Nov. 16. As the Rams opened their 2025-26 home schedule with victories over Western Colorado and Adams State, Kirby averaged 10 rebounds, three steals and two blocks per game to lead the defensive efforts. Against Western Colorado, he posted eight points, seven rebounds, three steals and two blocks. Then against Adams State, he recorded nine points, a season-high 13 rebounds, three steals and two blocks. ASU Business Grad Students Win Gartner AI Case Study Contest

A team of four Angelo State University graduate students in the Norris-Vincent College of Business took first place in Gartner Consulting's inaugural Texas Case Study Competition that culminated Nov. 12 in Austin. The competition entailed teams of 3-5 graduate business students submitting real-life case studies on implementing artificial intelligence (AI) to increase efficiency and enhance operations across an unnamed Texas government agency. Gartner consultants acted as coaches for each team. ASU team members were Tatiana Alvarez, Ava James and Andres Ybarra of San Angelo and Katelyn St. John of Hamlin. Competing against 11 other teams from Rice University, Southern Methodist University, the University of Houston and the University of Texas, the ASU team won the preliminary round of the contest in October to advance to the finals in Austin. At the finals, the top three teams from the first round gave in-person presentations of their analyses and strategic plans to a group of five judges that included top IT exectives from several Texas government agencies. Angelo State Belles Earn Soccer All-Conference Honors

Seven players on the Angelo State University Rambelles soccer team have earned a total of nine All-Lone Star Conference accolades for the 2025 season. Senior goalkeeper Melyna Martinez of San Antonio leads the ASU honors as she was named LSC Goalkeeper of the Year and to the All-LSC first team. She led the LSC with 10 shutouts and was third in both save percentage (.827) and goals against average (.655). Junior defender Christina Clark of Trophy Club, senior defender Harper Saxon of Bluff Dale, and junior forward Sanai Stewart of Cibolo made the All-LSC second team for the Rambelles. Clark and Saxon led the ASU defense that recorded 10 shutouts and allowed only 14 goals. Stewart led the team with seven goals scored. Saxon was also named to the LSC All-Academic Team. Junior midfielder Portia "Lexi" Gonzales of Grand Prairie, senior midfielder Abby James of Lubbock, and senior forward Graycen Rasmussen of Burleson were named to the All-LSC third team. Gonzales had three goals, including two game winners. James scored two goals and led the team with seven assists. Rasmussen scored four goals, including three game winners. ASU's Parrish Wins Second LSC Volleyball Weekly Award

Madi Parrish of Saginaw, a junior outside hitter on the Angelo State University Rambelles volleyball team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week for Week 10 of the season ending Nov. 9. It is her second such weekly award this season. As the Belles completed road sweeps over Midwestern State and Lubbock Christian, Parrish totaled 33 kills over the two matches, averaging 5.05 kills per set on a .448 attack percentage. The finance major also contributed 27 digs, three service aces and two blocks to help ASU extend its winning streak to six matches. Parrish and the Belles are now 19-7 overall and 13-2 in LSC play. ASU Announces Alpha Chi Honor Society Fall 2025 Inductees

Angelo State University's chapter of the Alpha Chi national collegiate honor society recently inducted 23 new members for the fall 2025 semester during a ceremony in the Houston Harte University Center. Alpha Chi is one of the nation's most prestigious honor societies that is open to undergraduate students majoring in all academic disciplines. To be eligible, students must rank in the top 10% of seniors at their college or university, or in the top 7.5% of juniors. ASU's Murray, Little Sweep LSC Basketball Weekly Awards

Angelo State University Rams basketball players Jaqai Murray and Zyon Little swept the Lone Star Conference Player of the Week honors for the week ending Nov. 9 as ASU tipped off its season by going a perfect 3-0 at the D2CCA Tip-Off Classic in Billings, Montana. Murray, a senior forward from Brooklyn, N.Y., averaged 14.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game on his way to being named LSC Offensive Player of the Week. The education major also shot 60% from the field as the Rams defeated Nebraska-Kearney, New Mexico Highlands and No. 10 Colorado School of Mines. Little, a junior forward from Dickinson, was the Rams' leading rebounder as he averaged seven boards per game to claim LSC Defensive Player of the Week honors. The management major also averaged 8.3 points per game. The Rams will open their home schedule with games against Western Colorado and Adams State Nov. 14-15 at ASU's Junell Center/Stephens Arena. Angelo State's Ashcraft Earns LSC Volleyball Weekly Award

Gabi Ashcraft of Rockwall, a sophomore setter on the Angelo State University Rambelles volleyball team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Setter of the Week for Week 9 of the season ending Nov. 2. As the Rambelles went 3-0 for the week, Ashcraft averaged 8.20 assists per set, including a season-high 31 assists in the victory over No. 14 West Texas A&M. The elementary education major totaled 82 assists over the three matches, along with 25 digs. The Rambelles are currently riding a four-game winning streak, and Ashcraft has averaged 7.40 assists per set over that span as the Belles have hit .296 as a team. ASU's Parrish Passes 1,000 Kills Milestone for Rambelles Volleyball Team

Madi Parrish of Saginaw, an outside hitter on the Angelo State University Rambelles volleyball team, eclipsed the 1,000-kills mark for her career during ASU's victory over Western New Mexico on Oct. 28. Entering the match 11 kills shy of 1,000, Parrish notched 16 kills as the Rambelles swept WNMU on the road. She is just the 16th ASU player to record 1,000 kills and the first since Brianna Sotello in 2016. The junior finance major leads the Rambelles with 259 kills in 22 matches and is sixth in the Lone Star Conference averaging 3.36 kills per set. She has also chipped in 190 digs, 22 blocks and a team-high 27 service aces. Now sitting at 15-7 overall and 9-2 in the LSC, the Rambelles are back in action this weekend with home matches against Eastern New Mexico and No. 14 West Texas A&M. ASU's Martinez Wins Third LSC Soccer Weekly Award

Melyna Martinez of San Antonio, the starting goalkeeper for the Angelo State University Rambelles soccer team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for Week 8 of the season ending Oct. 26. It is her third LSC weekly award this season. As the Rambelles went 2-0 for the week, Martinez recorded two more shutouts to run her season total to nine, the most in the LSC. She also has seven shutouts in the last eight games as she helped lead the Rambelles to a road win over Eastern New Mexico, 1-0, and a home win over UT Permian Basin, 2-0. The senior management major has recorded 49 saves and given up just nine goals in ASU's 15 games this season, and she has not allowed a goal in her last 180 minutes of action. Angelo State's Williams Named LSC Basketball Player to Watch

Keniah Williams of Georgetown, a senior center on the Angelo State University Rambelles basketball team, has been named a Lone Star Conference Women's Basketball Player to Watch heading into the 2025-26 season. An interdisciplinary studies major, Williams was an All-LSC second-team selection last season and was also named to the LSC All-Defensive Team. She averaged 12.5 points and 8.7 rebounds per game in 2024-25 and led the LSC in blocked shots with 77 while shooting 53.5% from the field, which was fifth in the LSC. Williams and the Rambelles have been picked to finish sixth in the LSC Preseason Poll. They begin their season with two games at the South Central Region Crossover Nov. 14-15 in Colorado. Angelo State's Dobbins Wins LSC Football Weekly Award

Alan Dobbins of Del Rio, a redshirt freshman wide receiver on the Angelo State University Rams football team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 7 of the season ending Oct. 19. With the Rams riding a two-game losing streak, Dobbins helped spark them to a Homecoming victory over Midwestern State when he returned an onside kick attempt 45 yards for a touchdown. His return came in the fourth quarter after MSU had scored 14 straight points and helped the Rams pull away for the win, 48-28. The finance major is just the fourth player in the LSC to return a kickoff for a touchdown this season. Angelo State's Crawford Named LSC Basketball Player to Watch

Jordan Crawford of Simsboro, La., a senior guard on the Angelo State University Rams basketball team, has been named a Lone Star Conference Men's Basketball Player to Watch heading into the 2025-26 season. A transfer from Division I Louisiana Tech University, Crawford is a sociology major entering his first season with the Rams. He previously made the Conference USA All-Freshman Team. The Rams have been picked to finish sixth in the LSC Preseason Poll. They begin their season with three games at the D2CCA Tip-Off Classic in Billings, Mont., Nov. 7-9. ASU Flag Football Team Qualifies for Special Olympics USA Games

An Angelo State University unified flag football team, the Angelo State Incredibles, made up of ASU students and local Special Olympics athletes, has qualified to represent Texas at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games in Minnesota. The Angelo State Incredibles recently hosted a Special Olympics qualifying event that featured flag football and basketball games against a unified team from Texas Tech University. ASU won both the flag football game, 51-39, and the basketball game, 51-49. Winning the flag football game qualified the ASU team to represent Texas in that sport at the Special Olympics USA Games June 20-26, 2026. ASU students on the team include: Alex Lopez - Kinesiology grad student from San Antonio Jacqueline Bernard - Nursing major from Crane Anthony Nguyen - Management major from Mansfield Xavier Urias - Kinesiology grad student from McCamey Darion Cooper - Spanish major from Markham, Ill. ASU's Martinez Earns Second LSC Soccer Weekly Award

Melyna Martinez of San Antonio, the goalkeeper for the Angelo State University Rambelles soccer team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for Week 5 of the season ending Oct. 5. It is her second LSC weekly honor already this season. As the Belles won a road match over Sul Ross State and a home match over West Texas A&M, Martinez posted back-to-back shutouts to help lead ASU to 2-0 victories in both matches. The senior management major had three saves against Sul Ross State and four saves against West Texas A&M, and it has been 260 minutes of game time since she last allowed a goal. Martinez has now recorded three straight shutouts, all 2-0 Belles wins, has allowed only seven goals in 10 matches, and has a conference-high five shutouts. ASU's Huse Sets Rambelles Golf Single-Round Record

Christine Huse, a freshman on the Angelo State University Rambelles golf team, set a new program record for a single round by shooting a 66 (-5) in round two of the West Texas Fall Invitational on Sept. 29 on the La Paloma Golf Course at the Tascosa Golf Club in Amarillo. The economics major trimmed seven strokes off her first-round score of 73 to set the new team record, which is one stroke better than the previous record held by Kamryn Cummings, who shot a 67 twice during the 2017 season. Huse finished the tournament with a 77 in the third round to bring her 54-hole total to 216, which is tied for the second best 54-hole score in team history. As a team, the Rambelles shot an 888, which also set a team record for total 54-hole score, as they finished seventh in the 15-team field. Huse finished 10th overall. Angelo State's Martinez Earns LSC Soccer Weekly Award

Melyna Martinez of San Antonio, the goalkeeper for the Angelo State University Rambelles soccer team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for her performances during Week 2 of the 2025 season. Over two road games against CSU Pueblo and MSU Denver, Martinez posted shutouts in both contests as the Belles beat CSU Pueblo, 4-0, and completed a 0-0 tie against MSU Denver. The senior management major is tied for first in the conference with two shutouts. Over the Belles' first four games, Martinez has recorded 11 saves and two shutouts to begin her tenure as the starting goalkeeper. Heading into Lone Star Conference play, she has not allowed a goal in her last 190:58 minutes of action. Martinez and Belles start LSC play Wednesday on the road at Dallas Baptist before returning home to take on Lubbock Christian on Saturday at ASU's LeGrand Soccer Complex. ASU Rams Seaver & Freeman Earn LSC Football Weekly Awards

Angelo State University Rams football players Owen Seaver of Lampasas and Zaleik "Zeek" Freeman of Grand Prairie have both been selected for Lone Star Conference Player of the Week honors for their performances in Week 3 of the season ending Sept. 14. During the Rams' 31-20 road victory over Eastern New Mexico, Seaver tied for the team lead with eight tackles, including three tackles for loss and two sacks, on his way to being named LSC Defensive Player of the Week. He also recovered a fumble he forced on one of his sacks. The graduate student in finance leads the ASU defense that is allowing just 15.7 points per game during the Rams' 3-0 start to the season. Freeman, a senior interdisciplinary studies major, was named LSC Special Teams Player of the Week after returning a kickoff 88 yards for a touchdown against the Greyhounds. His dynamic return came just seconds after ENMU had tied the game at 7-7. It was the first kick return touchdown of the season in the LSC. Angelo State's Ferguson Earns LSC Volleyball Weekly Award

Ireland Ferguson of Venice, Florida, a senior libero on the Angelo State University Rambelles volleyball team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week for Week 4 of the season ending Sept. 28. As the Belles went 2-0 at home to open LSC play, Ferguson anchored the defense that held St. Mary's and St. Edward's to a combined .052 attack percentage as ASU dropped just one set over the two matches. The marketing major recorded 21 digs against St. Edward's and notched a double-double with 12 digs and 12 assists in the sweep of St. Mary's. She averaged 4.71 digs per set and also added two service aces. Ferguson and the No. 20 Belles are now 8-5 overall and 2-0 in the LSC. ASU's Clarke Wins Season-Opening Golf Tournament in Colorado

Mia Clarke of Liverpool, England, a senior on the Angelo State University Rambelles golf team, took first place at the Swan Invitational in Broomfield, Colo., to open ASU's 2025-26 golf season. The interdisciplinary studies major carded scores of 74 in the first round and 70 in the second round for a 144-shot total to clinch the individual title. Clarke's 144 also tied for the fourth-best two-round score in Rambelles golf history. As a team, the Rambelles placed fifth overall. ASU's Parrish Earns LSC and National Volleyball Weekly Honors

Madi Parrish of Saginaw, an outside hitter on the Angelo State University Rambelles volleyball team, has been named the Offensive Player of the Week by the Lone Star Conference and the NCAA Division II Women's Player of the Week by the American Volleyball Coaches Association for the opening week of the 2025 season. As the No. 2 Belles won all four matches at their home Kathleen Brasfield Invitational, Parrish notched 54 total kills with a .412 attack percentage, as well as 29 digs, two blocks and two service aces. The junior finance major also recorded her first two double-doubles of the season in victories over Southern Nazarene and No. 23 Colorado Mesa. Named the LSC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year prior to the season, Parrish is now the first Belle to earn multiple AVCA National Player of the Week honors after having also won the accolade in September 2024. Parrish and the Belles continue their season this week with a road match at Colorado Christian, followed by the Colorado Premier Challenge in Denver. Angelo State's Charles Earns LSC Football Weekly Award

Demetrias Charles of Channelview, a defensive back on the Angelo State University Rams football team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week for Week 1 of the official LSC season. In the Rams' 41-20 home-opener victory over Emporia State on Sept. 6, Charles snagged two interceptions, returning one for a 21-yard touchdown to give the Rams an early 13-0 lead. His second pick on the very next series also set up a Rams touchdown. The senior management major also notched a team-high six tackles, including five solo tackles, as the No. 10 Rams improved their record to 2-0. ASU Rambelles Earn LSC Soccer Preseason Recognition

Three players on the Angelo State University Rambelles soccer team have been named Lone Star Conference Preseason Players to Watch heading into the 2025 season. Forward Madison Bourzikas of Burleson made the LSC Offensive Players to Watch List. The sophomore commercial aviation major was second on the team with 5 goals last season and was named to the 2024 All-LSC second team and LSC All-Freshman Team. Defender Harper Saxon of Bluff Dale made the LSC Defensive Players to Watch List. The senior exercise science major helped lead the Belles to a conference-high 14 shutouts last season and was named to the All-LSC first team. She also earned USC and D2CCA all-region honors. Goalkeeper Melyna Martinez of San Antonio made the LSC Goalkeepers to Watch List. The senior management major is entering her first season as the Belles' starting goalkeeper. The Belles are the defending LSC and LSC Tournament champions and have been picked to finished second in the 2025 LSC Preseason Poll. ASU Rams Named to NCAA D-II Football Preseason Watch Lists

Two players from the Angelo State University Rams football team have been named to preseason watch lists for two of the most prestigious awards in NCAA Division II football heading into the 2025 season. Junior quarterback Braeden Fuller of Floresville has been selected for the 2025 D-II Football Player of the Year Watchlist - what is being termed the "first-ever officially unofficial preseason Harlon Hill Trophy watchlist." The Harlon Hill Trophy is the D-II equivalent of the Heisman Trophy, and Fuller was a finalist for the award last season. He has also been named the Lone Star Conference Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and to the D2 Football Elite 100 Watch List after leading the Rams to the 2024 LSC title. Also for the Rams, graduate student defensive lineman Owen Seaver of Lampasas has been named to the Gene Upshaw Award Watchlist for the award that goes to the best lineman, either offensive or defensive, in NCAA D-II. He is one of only five defensive lineman on the list after being named the 2024 LSC Defensive Lineman of the Year, and he has also been named to the D2 Football Elite 100 Watch List. ASU's Parrish Named LSC Volleyball Preseason Player of the Year

Madi Parrish of Saginaw, an outside hitter on the Angelo State University Rambelles volleyball team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Preseason Offensive Player of the Year heading into the 2025 season. A junior finance major, Parrish played a vital role in the Belles' success last season, recording 498 kills, the fifth-most in a single season in program history. She was named to the All-LSC first team, she earned LSC Tournament MVP and she was named to the AVCA All-America second team. She is also the first Belle to earn a LSC preseason player of the year award since fellow Boswell High School product Kailyn Gilbreath did so in 2021. The Belles have been picked to finish first in the LSC Preseason Poll and they begin their 2025 season by hosting the Kathleen Brasfield Invitational Sept. 5-6 in the ASU Junell Center/Stephens Arena. Angelo State Student-Athletes Earn D2 ADA Academic Awards

Eighty-four Angelo State University Rams and Rambelles student-athletes have been honored with 2024-25 Academic Achievement Awards by the Division II Athletic Directors Association (D2 ADA). To qualify, student-athletes much post at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA, have completed a minimum of two years of college work, and have been an active member of an intercollegiate athletic team during the previous academic year. The Rambelles track and field team led ASU with 15 selectees, followed by the Rams baseball team with 14 and the Belles volleyball team with 11. See the complete list of honorees at angelosports.com.

ASU Rams Named to D2 Football Preseason Watch List

Four players on the Angelo State University Rams football team have been named to the 2025 Elite 100 Watch List by D2Football.com. Making the list for the Rams are quarterback Braeden Fuller, defensive lineman Owen Seaver, offensive lineman Connor Fisher and punter Stefaan Forbes. The Elite 100 Watch List was selected by the staff of D2Football.com with the input of numerous head coaches, as well as professional football scouting veteran Josh Buchanan. The selected players represent the official watch list for the D2Football.com 2025 Elite 100 Team, which will be announced at the conclusion of the season. Fuller, a senior from Floresville, was the 2024 Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Year and finished eighth in Harlon Hill Award voting. He has also been named the 2025 LSC Preseason Offensive Player of the year. Seaver, a grad student from Lampasas, was named the 2024 LSC Defensive Lineman of the Year after posting 41 tackels, 6.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. Fisher, a senior from Willis, was named to the All-LSC first team for both the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Forbes, a senior from Tulsa, Okla., boasts a 50-plus-yard punting average. ASU's Fuller Earns LSC Football Preseason Player of the Year Honors

Braeden Fuller of Floresville, the all-region quarterback for the Angelo State University Rams football team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Preseason Offensive Player of the Year heading into the 2025 season. A senior kinesiology major, Fuller is the reigning LSC Offensive Player of the Year after leading the Rams to an undefeated 9-0 record in the LSC last season. He led the conference in passing yards (2,318) and touchdowns (19) while also rushing for 678 yards and 10 TDs. He was also a finalist for the Harlon Hill Trophy, the NCAA Division II equivalent of the Heisman Trophy. With Fuller leading the offense, the Rams have also been picked to finish first again this year in the LSC Preseason Poll, picking up 23 of a possible 30 first-place votes.
