Two Angelo State University student-athletes, Meagan Hill of Salado and Nicholas Novak of Stillwater, Minn., have earned Lone Star Conference Scholar-Athlete Awards for their performances during the 2019-20 academic/athletic year. Each academic year, the LSC presents a Scholar-Athlete Award to one male and one female student-athlete at member universities. Winners are selected as representatives of the outstanding accomplishments in athletics, scholarship and leadership that are displayed on each LSC campus during the year. To be eligible, student-athletes must have participated at least two years in their sport and be a member of the graduating class. Hill is a pitcher for the Rambelles softball team. She graduated in May with her civil engineering degree. Novak is a shortstop on the Rams baseball team. He graduated in May with his business administration degree. Thirteen members of the Angelo State University Rams and Rambelles indoor track and field teams have been named NCAA Division II All-Americans for their performances during the 2019-20 season. Due to the cancellation of the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, the Executive Committee adopted revamped criteria. Based on the posted startlist for the national championships announced by the NCAA, the following will be recognized as All-America for the 2020 indoor track & field season: - Individual events: ALL student-athletes listed on the startlist for the anticipated event. - Relay events: The four student-athletes per anticipated relay who produced the performance that was declared and accepted into their event. - There will not be a distinction of "first-team" or "second-team" to these recognitions. Fourteen Angelo State University student-athletes have earned the ASU Athletics Department's 2019-20 Holland's Awards. The winners of the annual awards are voted on by their teammates for their actions both on and off the field or court. One winner is chosen for each of ASU's athletic teams and the athletic training team, and the awards are sponsored by Holland's Jewelers. Two members of the Angelo State University Rambelles tennis team have been named 2019-20 All-Americans by the International Tennis Association. Valentina Gonzalez of Medellin, Colombia, and Ena Ovcina of Tidaholm, Sweden, were named ITA Doubles All-Americans. They formed the Belles' top doubles team and ended the shortened season ranked No. 4 in the nation. They are ASU's first ITA Doubles All-Americans in program history. Avery McNeme of Lubbock, a junior midfielder on the Angelo State University Rambelles soccer team, has been named to the inaugural Lone Star Conference Athletic Performance All-Conference Team as announced by LSC officials April 16. For the 2019 season, McNeme was the Belles' co-leader in goals scored (5) and led the LSC in assists (10). She repeated as the LSC Midfielder of the Year and on the All-LSC first team. She was also a first-team All-South Central Region and first-team All-West Region Scholar selection, and was named a third-team All-American. A kinesiology major at ASU, McNeme was an all-district and all-region player for Monterey Senior High School in Lubbock. Joshua Elvir of Kemah, a senior outfielder on the Angelo State University Rams baseball team, has been named the inaugural Lone Star Conference Male Athletic Performance Athlete of the Year as announced by LSC officials on April 16. The 2019 LSC Player of the Year and 2020 Preseason Player of the Year, Elvir was off to another impressive start this season before it was shortened by the COVID-19 pandemic. Through 22 games, he posted a .438 batting average with 10 doubles, 11 home runs, 30 RBIs, 44 runs scored, 27 walks and 15 stolen bases. Andres Ibarguen of Santa Marta, Colombia, a senior forward in the Angelo State University Rams basketball team, has been named to the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-South Central Region second team for his performance during the 2019-20 season. Ibarguen was second on the Rams in scoring at 14.3 points per game and led all of NCAA D-II averaging 5.3 offensive rebounds per game. He was also named second-team All-Lone Star Conference. De'Anira Moore of Allen, a senior forward on the Angelo State University Belles basketball team, has been named to the All-South Central Region first team for women's basketball by the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioners Association for the 2019-20 season. Through the Belles' 28 games, Moore led the team in points per game (18.2), rebounds per game (8.3), field goal percentage (.528) and blocked shots (60). In the Lone Star Conference, she was third in points, rebounds and blocked shots per game. With their season shortened by coronavirus issues, the Belles finished 18-10 overall and 14-10 in the LSC. Trpimir Siroki of Zagreb, Croatia, a sophomore on the Angelo State University Rams track and field team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Male Field Athlete of the Year for the 2020 LSC indoor track and field season as voted on by the LSC head coaches. Siroki scored a meet-high 34 points to help lead the Rams to their first-ever title at the LSC Indoor Track and Field Championships. He won the long jump and placed second in the high jump, third in the pole vault and triple jump, and fifth in the 60-meter hurdles. See more details at angelosports.com.

Zoe Gubbels of Velserbroek, Netherlands, a junior on the Angelo State University Rambelles tennis team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for her performances during the week ending March 8. Playing in Wichita Falls March 5-7, Gubbels went undefeated in singles and doubles to lead the Belles to a sweep of regional opponents Colorado Mesa University, Colorado State - Pueblo and Metropolitan State. Courtney Barnhill of Lubbock, an All-American outfielder on the Angelo State University Rambelles softball team, set a new ASU career home runs record on March 7 in the Belles' victory over St. Mary's University. In the bottom of the first inning, Barnhill hit a two-run homer over the right-centerfield fence to give the Belles a 2-0 lead. It was her 47th career home run and put her ahead of the former ASU record holder, Kenedy Urbany, who belted 46 home runs from 2014-17. Through 25 games this season, Barnhill currently leads the Belles in batting average (.375), home runs (6), RBIs (21), runs scored (21), slugging percentage (.722), on-base percentage (.465) and stolen bases (20).

Nick Seginowich of Victoria, British Columbia, a senior catcher on the Angelo State University Rams baseball team, has been named the NCAA Division II South Central Region Hitter of the Week for his performances during the week ending March 1. In helping lead the Rams to a 3-1 series win over arch-rival No. 14 West Texas A&M, Seginowich hit .400 with two home runs, 10 RBIs and four runs scored. He ended Game 1 of the series with a walk-off sacrifice fly, and he ended Game 2 with a walk-off 3-run homer. Two members of the Angelo State University Rams basketball team have earned All-Lone Star Conference honors for their performances during the 2019-20 regular season. Andres Ibarguen of Santa Marta, Colombia, (by way of Athens, Texas) and Collin Turner of Poolesville, Md., were both named to the All-LSC second team. Ibarguen led the Rams in rebounding and led NCAA Division II in offensive rebounds per game. Four members of the Angelo State University Belles basketball team earned All-Lone Star Conference recognition for their performances during the 2019-20 regular season. De'Anira Moore of Allen was named to the All-LSC first team. Catara Samuel of Amarillo was named to the All-LSC third team. Asia Davis of Midwest City, Okla., earned All-LSC honorable mention - and Sawyer Lloyd of Wall also earned All-LSC honorable mention and was named to the LSC All-Freshman Team. Nick Seginowich of Victoria, British Columbia, a senior catcher on the Angelo State University Rams baseball team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week for his performances during the week ending March 1. As the Rams took three of four games from No. 14 West Texas A&M, Seginowich batted .400 with one double, two home runs, 10 RBIs and four runs scored. He finished two of the Rams' wins in walk-off fashion with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 11th inning of Game 1, and a 3-run homer to end Game 2. Twenty-one members of the Angelo State University track and field teams have earned a total of 31 NCAA Division II All-South Central Region honors that were announced March 2 by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Twelve ASU Rams and nine Rambelles athletes were honored. Four Rams and three Rambelles were named all-region in multiple events. Valentina Gonzalez of Medellin, Colombia, a junior on the Angelo State University Rambelles tennis team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for her performances during the week ending Feb. 23. In helping the Belles win all three of their matches in Arkansas last week, Gonzalez went 3-0 as ASU's No. 1 singles player and 2-1 as part of ASU's No. 1 doubles team with Ena Ovcina of Tidaholm, Sweden. Two members of the Angelo State University track and field teams have earned Academic All-Lone Star Conference honors for the 2019-20 indoor track and field season. For the ASU Rambelles - Mia van Oudtshoorn of Roodskool, Kroonstad, South Africa, was named the LSC Women's Indoor Track and Field Academic Athlete of the Year, as well as earning a spot on the All-Academic Team. For the ASU Rams - Levi Britting of Albany was named to the LSC Men's All-Academic Team. To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.30 GPA and have reached sophomore status both athletically and academically. The Academic Athlete of Year awards and All-Academic Team are selected from the list of academically qualified players, with the league's sports information directors voting on the basis of both academic and athletic achievement. Collin Turner of Poolesville, Md., a senior guard on the Angelo State University Rams basketball team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his performances during the week ending Feb. 23. In victories over Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M-International, Turner led the Rams in scoring for both games. He scored a career-high 44 points as the Rams beat A&M-Kingsville, 80-73, and then scored a team-high 22 points in the 79-69 win over A&M-International. The Angelo State University Rams track and field team claimed its first-ever Lone Star Conference Indoor Championship with a dominant performance Feb. 21-22 in Lubbock. The Rams scored 188 points to claim the title, well ahead of West Texas A&M (148 pts) and Texas A&M-Commerce (117.5 pts) in the standings. Five Rams also claimed individual titles as Trivett Jones won the pole vault, Canon Andrews won the weight throw, Trpimir Siroki won the long jump, Matthew Walsh won the triple jump, and Diego Pettorossi won the 200-meter dash. Twenty-five members of the Angelo State University track and field teams, including 15 Rams and 10 Rambelles, have earned All-Lone Star Conference honors for the 2019-20 indoor track and field season. Topping the accolades for ASU were Faith Roberson of Wall, who was named Outstanding Female Track Athlete; and Trpimir Siroki of Zagreb, Croatia, who was named Outstanding Male Field Athlete. Parker Bramlett of Bullard, a junior second baseman for the Angelo State University Rams baseball team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week for his performances during the week ending Feb. 16. Batting lead-off for the Rams during their four-game sweep of Cameron University, Bramlett helped lead the offensive charge by going 11-for-16 at the plate for a .611 batting average with four doubles, two triples, 10 RBIs and eight runs scored. Bramlett is now hitting .513 over the Rams' first 10 games of the season with 17 RBIs and four stolen bases as the Rams sit at 10-0. See more details on angelosports.com.

Josh Elvir of Kemah, an All-American on the Angelo State University Rams baseball team, has been named to USA Baseball's 2020 Golden Spikes Award Watch List. The Golden Spikes Award annually goes to the top amateur baseball player in the country. Of the 55 players on the 2020 Watch List, Elvir is the only one from a NCAA Division II university. Last year, Elvir was named the Lone Star Conference Player of the Year, earned multiple All-America honors, and was named the NCAA D-II Most Outstanding Player by Perfect Game. Through six games this season, he is hitting .450, leads the Rams in walks, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and stolen bases, and is tied for the team lead in hits, doubles and total bases. Courtney Barnhill of Lubbock, a member of the Angelo State University Rambelles softball team, has been placed on the 2020 Schutt Sports/NFCA Division II National Player and Pitcher of the Year Watch List by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. A senior outfielder, Barnhill has earned All-Lone Star Conference honors the last three years and was named a 2019 NFCA All-American. Through 10 games this season, she leads the Belles in batting average (.353), hits (12), triples (2), total bases (16), slugging percentage (.471) and stolen bases (11). Meagan Hill of Salado, a senior on the Angelo State University Rambelles softball team, has been named the Wilson/NFCA Division II Pitcher of the Week by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for her performances during the week ending Feb. 9. Hill was dominant in her two starts at the Florida Tech Invite tournament in Melbourne, Fla. She threw her first collegiate no-hitter in a 2-0 victory over Molloy College, and followed that up with a 1-hit shutout in another 2-0 win over No. 9 Florida Tech. Over the 14 innings, Hill struck out 15 batters and walked only one. Now 2-1 with a 0.82 ERA, Hill will lead the Belles into ASU's George and Ola McCorkle Challenge tournament this weekend. Benjamin Elder of Chico, Calif., a junior on the Angelo State University Rams baseball team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week for his performance during the week ending Feb. 10. Against Oklahoma Christian University on Feb. 9, Elder tossed six shutout innings, giving up only two hits and posting 12 strikeouts with no walks as the Rams squeaked out a 9-8 victory. Only a shaky bullpen performance over the final three innings denied Elder his second win of the season. A towering 6-6, 250-pound lefty, Elder has a 1-0 record with a 0.00 ERA, 18 strikeouts and no walks over his first two starts for the Rams this season. Meagan Hill of Salado, a senior on the Angelo State University Rambelles softball team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week for her performances during the week ending Feb. 9. Pitching at the Florida Tech Invitational in Melbourne, Fla., Hill tossed her first no-hitter of the season on Feb. 7 in a 2-0 victory over Molloy College. Then, on Feb. 8, she tossed a 1-hit shutout against Florida Tech in another 2-0 Belles win. For the week, Hill pitched 14 innings and allowed only two baserunners on one hit and one walk. Decio Andrade of Camacha, Portugal, a sophomore on the Angelo State University Rams track and field team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week for his performance during the week ending Feb. 2. Competing at the Pittsburg State Invitational in Pittsburg, Kan., Andrade was the top collegiate finisher in the weight throw with a heave of 69 feet, 2.5 inches (21.09 meters). Faith Roberson of Wall, a junior on the Angelo State University Rambelles track and field team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week for her performances during the week ending Feb. 2. Competing at the Pittsburg State Invitational in Pittsburg, Kan., Roberson ran the second-best LSC time of the season in the 60-meter hurdles prelims before finishing seventh in the event. Brad Mathiowetz of Rochester, Minn., a senior on the Angelo State University Rams baseball team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week for his performances during the week ending Feb. 2. During a three-game series sweep of Eastern New Mexico, Mathiowetz hit .500 with a double, a triple, a home run, eight RBIs and three walks.
