Joshua Elvir of Kemah, a senior outfielder on the Angelo State University Rams baseball team, has been named the Lone Star Conference 2020 Preseason Player of the Year. An All-American and the 2019 NCAA Division II Most Outstanding Player, Elvir led the nation in batting average (.458), slugging percentage (.989), on-base percentage (584) and RBIs (81). He also tallied 20 home runs and 75 runs scored, was 11 of 12 in stolen bases, and posted a .970 fielding percentage. Trivett Jones of Rowlett, a member of the Angelo State University Rams track and field team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Field Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Texas Tech University Corky Classic on Jan. 18 in Lubbock. Competing in the A Section of the pole vault that included athletes from NCAA Division I power schools like Texas Tech and Louisiana State, Jones took first place with a vault of 16-4 (4.98 meters). Three members of the Angelo State University Belles volleyball team have earned 2019 All-America honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). Kailyn Gilbreath of Fort Worth, a redshirt sophomore right side, was named to the NCAA Division II All-America third team. Senior right side Sundara Chinn of Houston and senior setter Meghan Parker of San Antonio earned All-America honorable mention from the AVCA. More details are available on the AVCA website.

Avery McNeme of Lubbock, a junior midfielder on the Angelo State University Rambelles soccer team, has been named to the 2019 NCAA Division II All-America third team by the United Soccer Coaches organization. McNeme led the Lone Star Conference with 10 assists and chipped in five goals for the Rambelles. She was also third in the conference with 34 shots on goal on her way to being named LSC Midfielder of the Year for the second straight season. She was also named to the All-LSC first team, LSC All-Academic Team and LSC All-Tournament Team. Earlier this week, McNeme was also named to the United Soccer Coaches' All-South Central Region first team. Prior to joining ASU, McNeme starred at Lubbock Monterey High School, where she earned first-team all-district and all-region honors.

Kailyn Gilbreath of Fort Worth, a redshirt sophomore on the Angelo State University Belles volleyball team, has earned All-America honorable mention honors from the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) for her performance during the 2019 season. Gilbreath led the Belles' attack with 386 kills, a .358 hitting percentage and an average of 3.42 kills per set. She was also second on the team with 32 service aces and added 92 digs and 42 blocks. Sawyer Lloyd of Wall, a freshman guard on the Angelo State University Belles basketball team, has been named Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week for her performances during the week ending Dec. 8. The Belles went 2-0 last week with LSC wins over Tarleton State University and Texas Woman's University. Hunter Kyle of Wichita Falls, a linebacker on the Angelo State University Rams football team, has been named to the NCAA D-II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-South Central Region second team for his performance during the 2019 season. A junior management major, Kyle led the Rams' defense in tackles with 101, as well as sacks (4.5) and tackles for loss (12). He added one interception and one fumble recovery. He was also named to the All-Lone Star Conference second team.

Three members of the Angelo State University Belles volleyball team were named to the All-Lone Star Conference Tournament Team following the Belles' tournament championship on Nov. 23. Senior outside hitter Sundara Chinn of Houston was named the LSC Tournament MVP. She was joined on the all-tournament team by junior middle blocker Baleigh Allen of Katy and sophomore defensive specialist Makenna Hanssen of San Antonio. De'Anira Moore of Allen, a senior forward on the Angelo State University Belles basketball team, has been named Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her performances during the week ending Dec. 8. The Belles went 2-0 last week with wins over Tarleton State University and Texas Woman's University. Moore scored 16 points against TSU and added 19 points against TWU. She shot 53% from the field and 79% from the free throw line while also notching 15 total rebounds, two blocks, two steals and one assist in the two victories. Fifteen players from the Angelo State University Rams football team have earned All-Lone Star Conference accolades for their performances during the 2019 season. Receiver Keke Chisum, defensive tackle G'Karri McCoy and safety Leddy French were named to the All-LSC first team. Receiver Lawson Ayo, linebacker Hunter Kyle, cornerback Devin Washington, safety Darrick Dickerson and specialist Dane McElrath made the All-LSC second team. Five members of the Angelo State University Rambelles tennis team have entered the latest regional and national rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Nationally, Valentina Gonzalez and Ena Ovcina are ranked No. 4 in doubles, while also ranking No. 2 in the South Central Region. Their teammates, Zoe Gubbels and Maria Delgadillo, are ranked No. 3 for doubles in the South Central Region. In singles, Gonzalez is ranked No. 25 nationally and No. 5 in the region, while Daniela Rodriguez and Ovcina enter the regional rankings at No. 8 and No. 12, respectively. Chinn, a senior right side from Houston, was named LSC Offensive Player of the Week. She registered 27 total kills as the Belles went 2-0 for the week with wins over Tarleton State University and Dallas Baptist University. Angelo State University Rams basketball players Collin Turner and Andres Ibarguen Andrews have swept the Lone Star Conference Player of the Week Awards for their performances during the week ending Nov. 17. A senior from Poolsville, Md., Turner picked up LSC Offensive Player of the Week honors as the Rams went 2-0 for the week over Sonoma State and San Francisco State. Meghan Parker of San Antonio, a senior on the Angelo State University Rambelles volleyball team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Setter of the Week for her performances during the week ending Nov. 10. In victories over St. Edward's University and St. Mary's University, Parker registered 31 total assists, leading the Belles' offense to a .293 hitting percentage. Kailyn Gilbreath of Fort Worth, who plays right side for the Angelo State University Rambelles volleyball team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her performances during the week ending Nov. 10. In victories over St. Edward's University and St. Mary's University, Gilbreath registered 31 total kills, averaging 4.67 kills per set and posting a .472 hitting percentage. Kira Miller of Frisco, a goalkeeper for the Angelo State University Rambelles soccer team, has been named Lone Star Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for her performances in two ASU victories during the week ending Oct. 6. A sophomore exercise science major, Miller led the Belles to two shutout victories over Midwestern State University and Oklahoma Christian University. She faced nine shots and made four saves in a 2-0 win over MSU - and then faced seven shots and made two saves in a 2-0 win over OCU. She now has five shutouts for the season. Angelo State Belles volleyball players Makenna Hanssen and Meghan Parker of San Antonio and Sundara Chinn of Houston have swept the Lone Star Conference Player of the Week Awards for their performances during the week ending Oct. 6. Hanssen was named Defensive Player of the Week, Parker earned Setter of the Week honors, and Chinn was named Offensive Player of the Week. A junior kinesiology major, McNeme led the Belles to victories in their two games last week over UT-Permian Basin and Lubbock Christian University. She scored both goals in the 2-0 win over UT-Permian Basin and assisted on the tying goal in the 2-1 overtime win over Lubbock Christian. Lindsey Ledyard of Cedar Park, a member of the Angelo State University Belles volleyball team, has been named Lone Star Conference Setter of the Week for her performances during the week ending Oct. 6. A junior marketing major, Ledyard totaled 54 assists over three matches as the Belles swept home victories over Lubbock Christian, UT-Permian Basin and Western New Mexico. She averaged six assists per set as the Belles' offense posted a .287 hitting percentage over the three matches. The Belles are now 13-1 overall and 5-0 in the conference. Joshua Quinton of Lubbock, a junior linebacker on the Angelo State University Rams football team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Rams' 28-6 victory over No. 14 Midwestern State University on Sept. 28. Quinton led the Rams with eight tackles and added a sack, an interception and a fumble recovery. Makenna Hanssen of San Antonio, a member of the Angelo State University Belles volleyball team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week for her performances during the week ending Sept. 22. In two ASU victories over West Texas A&M (3-1) and Eastern New Mexico (3-0), the sophomore defensive specialist recorded 38 total digs for an average of 5.43 digs per set. Marissa Berry of Mesquite and Valerie Solis of Arlington, both players on the Angelo State University Rambelles soccer team, have been named Lone Star Conference Players of the Week for their performances during the week ending Sept. 8. Berry, a sophomore defender, was named LSC Defensive Player of the Week. She led a Belles defensive effort that allowed only seven shots on goal over two games against Fort Lewis College and New Mexico Highlands University. Both games ended in shutout wins for ASU. Solis, a freshman midfielder, was named LSC Offensive Player of the Week. She scored four goals on just five shots over the two games, including two goals in each game. Kailyn Gilbreath and Lindsey Ledyard, both players on the Angelo State University Belles volleyball team, were named to the All-Tournament Team for the Mountain Lion Invitational held Sept. 12-14 in Colorado Springs, Colo., with Gilbreath also picking up MVP honors. Gilbreath, a redshirt sophomore from Fort Worth, led the Belles in kills (47) and hitting percentage (.448) over their four tournament matches. She also registered 11 digs and one solo block. Parker Bramlett of Bullard, an infielder on the Angelo State University Rams baseball team, earned All-West Coast League honorable mention honors after helping lead the Victoria HarbourCats to a 39-15 record and a spot in the 2019 WCL Championship finals. The WCL is a summer league for college players. In 35 games for the HarbourCats, Bramlett posted a .304 batting average with one home run, 16 RBI, 29 walks and a team-high 23 stolen bases. He also set a new HarbourCats single-season record for stolen bases. Parker Bramlett of Bullard, an infielder on the Angelo State University Rams baseball team, has set a new single-season stolen bases record for the Victoria HarbourCats of the West Coast League, a summer league for college players. During the HarbourCats 12-3 win over the Cowlitz Black Bears on July 30, Bramlett notched his 20th stolen base of the season, breaking the old franchise record of 19 steals set just last season. Through 32 games for Victoria, he is hitting .322 with 15 RBI and 20 steals. The multiple All-American led the nation in batting average (.458), slugging percentage (.989), on-base percentage (584) and RBIs (81). Additionally, as a team the Rams were named NCAA D-II Baseball Statistical Champion after leading the nation in team batting average (.350), runs per game (9.7), total runs (562), on-base percentage (.462) and walks (319). Elvir and the Rams won the Lone Star Conference regular-season title, set a new ASU single-season wins record (42), and achieved the longest winning streak in team history (17). Angelo State junior Daisy Osakue of Turin, Italy, continued her winning ways by claiming the Gold Medal in the discus at the World University Games in Naples with a new personal-best throw of 61.69 meters (202-5). She also captured the hearts of the people of Naples, who chose her to lead the World University Games closing ceremony. The two-time defending NCAA Division II champion in the discus, Osakue is also an All-American in the shot put and high jump - and she holds the ASU, Lone Star Conference and NCAA D-II records in the women's discus.
