Angelo State Announces 2022 Outstanding Graduate Students

Angelo State University honored its 2022 Outstanding Graduate Students during the annual Graduate Research Symposium and Awards Ceremony on April 29. Students representing 22 different graduate degree programs and all five of ASU's academic colleges were recognized during the ceremony. Angelo State Class of 2022 Top Graduates

Morgan Preston of Vicksburg, Michigan, has been selected to receive Angelo State University's 2022 Presidential Award as the top graduate in her class, while five other ASU graduating seniors have been selected for 2021-22 Distinguished Student Awards from their respective academic colleges. Preston will be recognized at ASU's May 13-14 commencement ceremonies, along with the five Distinguished Student Award honorees. The Distinguished Student Award recipients are: Krystyn Irby of Odessa - Archer College of Health and Human Services Price Tarbet of Big Spring - College of Arts and Humanities Caroline Huseman of Amarillo - College of Education Mia van Rheede van Oudtshoorn of Kroonstad, South Africa - College of Science and Engineering Connor Blake of Boerne - Norris-Vincent College of Business. ASU's Academic Excellence Committee hosted an awards ceremony May 2 in the Houston Harte University Center to honor all the award recipients and nominees. See more details at angelo.edu/news.

Angelo State Counseling Grad Students Earn State CREST Awards

Three Angelo State University graduate students who are intern school counselors in the Brownwood Independent School District earned Counselors Reinforcing Excellence for Students in Texas (CREST) Awards for their respective schools at the Texas School Counselor Association's (TSCA) recent Professional School Counselor Conference in Round Rock. ASU graduate students Angie Bertrand, Marci Reagan and LeeAnn Stork, all from Brownwood, are members of the Brownwood ISD Counseling and Mental Health Team that earned the CREST Awards from TSCA. The CREST Awards recognize schools with outstanding counseling programs, and that have demonstrated a commitment to using the Texas Model to improve the lives and achievements of students in academic, career and personal social domains. Angelo State Math Students Post Perfect TExES Exam Pass Rate

For the 24th straight year, Angelo State University students have maintained a 100% passing rate on the Texas Examination of Educator Standards (TExES) teacher certification test for secondary mathematics. Five ASU students took the Mathematics 7-12 TExES for the 2020-21 academic year and passed with an average score of 265 out of 300. The minimum passing score for the exam is 240, and the state average score is 241. ASU's perfect passing rate streak began in 1998, and since then, all 196 of the ASU students who have taken the TExES secondary mathematics exam after completing the ASU mathematics program have passed. Angelo State Announces 2021 Top Graduates

Phyllis Kate Creecy of Denton has been selected to receive Angelo State University's 2021 Presidential Award as the top graduate in her class, while five other ASU graduating seniors have been selected for 2021 Distinguished Student Awards from their respective academic colleges. Creecy will be recognized at ASU's May 14-15 commencement ceremonies, along with the five Distinguished Student Award honorees. The Distinguished Student Award recipients are: Clara Aguirre of Refugio, Archer College of Health and Human Services Crystal Mendez of San Angelo, College of Arts and Humanities Byanca Sanchez of Canadian, College of Education Marissa Brezgiel of Frisco, College of Science and Engineering Caylee Gibson of San Angelo, Norris-Vincent College of Business ASU's Academic Excellence Committee hosted an awards ceremony May 3 in the Houston Harte University Center to honor all the award recipients and nominees. Angelo State Announces 2021 Outstanding Graduate Students

Angelo State University honored its 2021 Outstanding Graduate Students, as well as the recipients of four superlative awards, during the annual Graduate Research Symposium and Awards Ceremony on April 26 in the Houston Harte University Center. The honorees were nominated by faculty in their respective academic departments, and each received a certificate of recognition. Angelo State Announces Class of 2019 Top Graduates

Evelyn Burch of Clinton, Md., has been selected to receive Angelo State University's 2019 Presidential Award as the top graduate in her class, while five other ASU graduating seniors have been selected for 2018-19 Distinguished Student Awards from their respective academic colleges. Burch will be recognized at ASU's May 11 commencement ceremonies, along with the five Distinguished Student Award honorees. The Distinguished Student Award recipients are: Brianna Gabaldon, Archer College of Health and Human Services; Talon Shoemake, College of Arts and Humanities; Claire Benschoter, College of Education; Angela Chen, College of Science and Engineering; and Lacey Maurice, Norris-Vincent College of Business. Angelo State Math Students Again Post Perfect TExES Pass Rate

For the 22nd straight year, Angelo State University students have maintained a 100 percent passing rate on the Texas Examination of Educator Standards (TExES) teacher certification test for secondary mathematics.
