Angelo State's Bramlett Named West Coast League Player of the Week

Parker Bramlett of Bullard, an all-conference infielder on the Angelo State University Rams baseball team, has been named the West Coast League's Moss Adams Player of the Week for the week ending June 30. A redshirt junior at ASU, Bramlett is playing summer ball for the Victoria HarbourCats in the West Coast League, a wooden-bat league for college players. During the week of June 24-30, he went 8-for-18 at the plate, drew seven walks and scored seven runs. His hot streak has led the HarbourCats on a six-game winning streak. Angelo State's Jones Named LSC Male Athlete of the Year

Markus Jones of Fort Worth, a former defensive lineman on the Angelo State University Rams football team, has been named the 2019 Lone Star Conference Male Athlete of the Year. Jones graduated in December and recently signed as an NFL free agent with the Baltimore Ravens following his stellar senior season at ASU. He broke the Rams' career sacks record on his way to being named LSC Defensive Player of the Year, South Central Region Defensive Player of the Year, D2CCA Defensive Player of the Year and Don Hansen Defensive Player of the Year, along with picking up first team All-America honors from the Associated Press, Don Hansen and AFCA. Angelo State's Elvir Named NCAA D-II Baseball Most Outstanding Player

Josh Elvir of Kemah, a junior outfielder on the Angelo State University Rams baseball team, has been named the 2019 NCAA Division II Most Outstanding Player by Perfect Game. This is just the latest accolade for Elvir, who was named a First-Team All-American by the National College Baseball Writer's Association (NCBWA), American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings, and the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA). He was also named the NCBWA National Player of the Year and the D2CCA Ron Lenz Player of the Year. Elvir led NCAA D-II in batting average (.464), RBIs (81), slugging percentage (.989) and on-base percentage (.584). He also notched 20 home runs and 9 triples. Aschenbeck & Nash Named Angelo State's LSC Scholar-Athletes

Grant Aschenbeck of East Bernard and Jordan Nash of Grandview have been named the 2018-19 Lone Star Conference Scholar-Athletes for Angelo State University. Aschenbeck played linebacker and earned All-LSC honors for the Rams football team, and Nash is an All-American in the heptathlon for the Rambelles track and field team. Each academic year, the LSC presents a Scholar-Athlete Award to one male and one female student-athlete at each member institution. These student-athletes are selected as representatives of the outstanding accomplishments in athletics, scholarship and leadership that are displayed on each LSC campus during the year. To be eligible for consideration, student-athletes must have participated at least two years in their sport and be a member of the graduating class. More details are available on the LSC website.

Angelo State Baseball Players Earn Postseason Honors

Five members of the Angelo State University Rams baseball team have garnered all-region and/or All-America honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA/Rawlings) and/or the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) for 2019. Outfielder Josh Elvir has been named a first-team All-American by both ABCA/Rawlings and the D2CCA, and was also named the D2CCA Ron Lenz Player of the Year. Catcher Nick Seginowich has been named a third-team All-American by the D2CCA. Additionally, Elvir and shortstop Nick Novack have been named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-South Central Region first team, while Seginowich, designated hitter Lachlan Mayo and pitcher Trent Baker were named to the all-region second team.

Angelo State's Osakue Named LSC Female Field Athlete of the Year

Daisy Osakue of the Angelo State University Rambelles track and field team has been named the 2019 Lone Star Conference Female Field Athlete of the Year. This is the second straight year for her to claim the top LSC honor. A junior from Turin, Italy, Osakue repeated as NCAA Division II outdoor national champion in the discus with a meet-record throw of 60.26 meters (197-8). She has also been honored as the USTFCCCA South Central Region Female Field Athlete of the Year and earned NCAA D-II All-America status. She will represent Italy at the IAAF World Championships this fall in Doha, Qatar. More details are available on angelosports.com.

Angelo State's Gonzalez Named Women's Tennis All-American

Angelo State University Rambelles tennis player Valentina Gonzalez has been named a 2019 NCAA Division II All-American by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. A sophomore from Medellin, Colombia, Gonzalez played No. 1 singles for the Rambelles this season and went 19-3. She helped lead ASU to a 20-5 overall record, an unbeaten record in Lone Star Conference matches, and a LSC regular season title. She was also named LSC Newcomer of the Year and Player of the Year, as well as a NCAA D-II South Central Region Player to Watch.

Three Angelo State Baseball Players Named All-Americans

Three players on the Angelo State University Rams baseball team have been named 2019 All-Americans by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. Outfielder Josh Elvir was named a first-team All-American and the NCBWA National Player of the Year. Shortstop Nicholas Novak and third baseman Jordan Williams both earned All-America honorable mention. The trio helped lead the Rams to the Lone Star Conference regular season title and a NCAA Division II South Central Regional title, falling just short of a trip to the D-II College World Series. Angelo State Baseball Players Earn All-Region Honors

Six members of the Angelo State University Rams baseball team have earned All-South Central Region honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and/or the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA). Angelo State Track & Field Athletes Earn All-America Honors

Twenty-five members of the Angelo State University Rams and Rambelles outdoor track and field teams earned All-America status for their performances at the 2019 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships held May 23-25 at Texas A&M-Kingsville. Angelo State's Andrade Wins Hammer Throw National Title

Decio Andrade of Camacha, Portugal, a freshman on the Angelo State University track and field team, won the national title in the hammer throw at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Texas A&M-Kingsville. Andrade threw the hammer 67.67 meters (222-0 feet) to win the event by over two and a half meters. He picked up 10 points for the Rams in the team standings and cemented first-team All-America status. More details are available at angelosports.com.

Angelo State's Barnhill Named Softball All-American

Courtney Barnhill of Lubbock, a junior outfielder on the Angelo State University Rambelles softball team, has been named to the 2019 NCAA Division II All-America third team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Barnhill lead the Belles in batting average (.396), hits (67), walks (31), doubles (17), home runs (12), RBIs (56), runs scored (54), on-base percentage (.495), slugging percentage (.722) and stolen bases (24). She led the Lone Star Conference in hits and doubles, as well as ranking second in RBIs, third in runs scored, fourth in walks and stolen bases, and sixth in batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage. She was also named to the All-LSC first team, won a LSC Gold Glove Award in the outfield, and was named first-team All-South Central Region. Angelo State University Announces Spring 2019 Dean's List

Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas, has announced the students achieving the Dean's List designation for the 2019 spring semester. To be eligible for the ASU Dean's List, full-time undergraduate students must maintain at least a 3.25 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale. Angelo State University Announces 2019 Spring Graduates

Angelo State University conferred 820 undergraduate and graduate degrees on 814 graduates during its 2019 spring commencement exercises on May 11 in the ASU Junell Center/Stephens Arena in San Angelo, Texas. Angelo State Track & Field Athletes Named All-Region

Thirty members of the Angelo State University track and field teams have been named to the 2019 All-South Central Region Team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The 30 Rams and Belles were honored in 36 events for a total of 46 all-region selections. See the list of ASU honorees and their events on the USTFCCCA website. Additionally, 31 ASU athletes have qualified for the 2019 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships to be held May 23-25 in Kingsville, Texas. Angelo State Women's Tennis Players Earn All-LSC Honors

Four members of the Angelo State University Rambelles tennis team have been named to the 2019 All-Lone Star Conference Team. Belles honorees are Valentina Gonzalez (singles and doubles), Maria Delgadillo (singles), Zoe Gubbels (singles) and Ena Ovcina (doubles). Gonzalez was also named LSC Women's Tennis Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year. The Belles won the LSC Regular Season Title. More details are available on the LSC website.

Twelve players on the Angelo State University Rams baseball team have been named to the 2019 All-Lone Star Conference Teams, including eight on the first team. ASU honorees are catcher Nick Seginowich, pitcher Trent Baker, second baseman Parker Bramlett, shortstop Nic Novak, third baseman Jordan Williams, outfielders Josh Elvir and Jacob Finke, and designated hitter Lachlan Mayo. Angelo State Players Named to LSC Baseball All-Defensive Team

Six members of the Angelo State University Rams baseball team have been named to the 2019 Lone Star Conference All-Defensive Team. The All-Defensive Team Awards are determined by a vote of LSC head coaches based on defensive performances alone for each of the nine positions. Rams honorees are catcher Nick Seginowich, pitcher Josh Barnett, first baseman Riley Peterson, second baseman Parker Bramlett, third baseman Jordan Williams and outfielder Jackson Hardy. Angelo State's Williams Named LSC Baseball Freshman of the Year

Jordan Williams, an infielder on the Angelo State University Rams baseball team, has been named the 2019 Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Year. He was also named to the All-LSC first team and the LSC All-Defensive Team for his stellar play at third base. A management major from Georgetown, Williams hit for a .376 average with 65 hits, 9 doubles and 37 RBIs while starting all 50 games for the Rams this season. His batting average ranked third on the Rams, and he was also second in walks (37) and tied for second in stolen bases (19). Defensively, he had only five errors in 104 chances. Angelo State's Elvir Named LSC Baseball Player of the Year

Josh Elvir of Kemah, an outfielder on the Angelo State University Rams baseball team, has been named the 2019 Lone Star Conference Player of the Year. He was also named to the All-LSC first team. Elvir led the Rams in batting average (.477), hits (71), triples (8), home runs (17), RBIs (68), runs scored (67), walks (45), on-base percentage (.603) and slugging percentage (1.020). Angelo State's Urquidi Named to LSC Baseball All-Academic Team

Michael Urquidi, an outfielder on the Angelo State University Rams baseball team, has been named to the Lone Star Conference All-Academic Team for the 2019 season. To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 grade point average and have reached sophomore status both athletically and academically. Urquidi is a graduate student in ASU's Master of Science in Nursing - Nurse Educator program. More details are available on the LSC website.

Angelo State Track & Field Athletes Earn All-LSC Honors

Thirty-four members of the Angelo State University Rams and Rambelles outdoor track and field teams have earned All-Lone Star Conference honors for the 2019 season. ASU honors are highlighted by Z'Antyler Foster-Hooks being named LSC Outstanding Male Track Athlete and Trpimir Siroki being named LSC Outstanding Male Field Athlete. Angelo State Engineering Team Qualifies for National Contest

A team of six Angelo State University civil engineering students is one of only eight teams nationwide that have been invited to compete in the American Society of Civil Engineers' (ASCE) Blue Sky Competition at the 2019 ASCE Student Conference June 6-8 in Melbourne, Fla.
