De'Anira Moore of Allen, a senior forward on the Angelo State University Belles basketball team, has been named Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her performances during the week ending Dec. 8. The Belles went 2-0 last week with wins over Tarleton State University and Texas Woman's University. Moore scored 16 points against TSU and added 19 points against TWU. She shot 53% from the field and 79% from the free throw line while also notching 15 total rebounds, two blocks, two steals and one assist in the two victories. Hunter Kyle of Wichita Falls, a linebacker on the Angelo State University Rams football team, has been named to the NCAA D-II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-South Central Region second team for his performance during the 2019 season. A junior management major, Kyle led the Rams' defense in tackles with 101, as well as sacks (4.5) and tackles for loss (12). He added one interception and one fumble recovery. He was also named to the All-Lone Star Conference second team.

Angelo State University's Ram Powerlifting Club brought home a host of awards, including five first-place medals, from the U.S.A. Powerlifting 2019 Longhorn Open held Nov. 23 at the University of Texas at Austin. Competing against teams from colleges and universities across Texas, ASU team members also recorded one runner-up and two third-place performances in various categories of both "equipped" and "raw" contests. Equipped contests allow competitors to wear special clothing, including bench shirts, squat suits and knee wraps, that allow them to lift heavier weights. Three members of the Angelo State University Belles volleyball team were named to the All-Lone Star Conference Tournament Team following the Belles' tournament championship on Nov. 23. Senior outside hitter Sundara Chinn of Houston was named the LSC Tournament MVP. She was joined on the all-tournament team by junior middle blocker Baleigh Allen of Katy and sophomore defensive specialist Makenna Hanssen of San Antonio. Fifteen players from the Angelo State University Rams football team have earned All-Lone Star Conference accolades for their performances during the 2019 season. Receiver Keke Chisum, defensive tackle G'Karri McCoy and safety Leddy French were named to the All-LSC first team. Receiver Lawson Ayo, linebacker Hunter Kyle, cornerback Devin Washington, safety Darrick Dickerson and specialist Dane McElrath made the All-LSC second team. Offensive tackle Blake Harrison, center A.J. Wozniak, quarterback Payne Sullins, kicker Connor Flanagan, defensive end Dagen Dunham and cornerback Deshaun Douglas earned All-LSC honorable mention. Five members of the Angelo State University Rambelles tennis team have entered the latest regional and national rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Nationally, Valentina Gonzalez and Ena Ovcina are ranked No. 4 in doubles, while also ranking No. 2 in the South Central Region. Their teammates, Zoe Gubbels and Maria Delgadillo, are ranked No. 3 for doubles in the South Central Region. In singles, Gonzalez is ranked No. 25 nationally and No. 5 in the region, while Daniela Rodriguez and Ovcina enter the regional rankings at No. 8 and No. 12, respectively. Angelo State University Belles volleyball players Sundara Chinn and Makenna Hanssen each earned Lone Star Conference Player of the Week honors for their performances during the week ending Nov. 17. Chinn, a senior right side from Houston, was named LSC Offensive Player of the Week. She registered 27 total kills as the Belles went 2-0 for the week with wins over Tarleton State University and Dallas Baptist University. This is her second Offensive Player of the Week Award this season. Hanssen, a sophomore defensive specialist from San Antonio, was named LSC Defensive Player of the Week. Angelo State University Rams basketball players Collin Turner and Andres Ibarguen Andrews have swept the Lone Star Conference Player of the Week Awards for their performances during the week ending Nov. 17. A senior from Poolsville, Md., Turner picked up LSC Offensive Player of the Week honors as the Rams went 2-0 for the week over Sonoma State and San Francisco State. Angelo State University's chapter of the Phi Kappa Phi (PKP) national honor society inducted its fall 2019 class of 71 students during a special initiation ceremony on Nov. 12 in the Houston Harte University Center. PKP is one of the nation's most prestigious academic honor societies for students in all academic disciplines. Avery McNeme of Lubbock, a midfielder/forward on the Angelo State University Rambelles soccer team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her performance during the week ending Nov. 10. This is her second Player of the Week honor this season. In the Belles' only game last week, McNeme notched a goal and an assist in their 2-1 victory over St. Edward's University to close out the regular season. Ten students in the Angelo State University Honors Program have been selected to present their research projects at the 54th annual National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC) Conference Nov. 6-10 in New Orleans, La. The NCHC Conference annually highlights student and faculty research presentations from across the nation. Meghan Parker of San Antonio, a senior on the Angelo State University Rambelles volleyball team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Setter of the Week for her performances during the week ending Nov. 10. In victories over St. Edward's University and St. Mary's University, Parker registered 31 total assists, leading the Belles' offense to a .293 hitting percentage. Kailyn Gilbreath of Fort Worth, who plays right side for the Angelo State University Rambelles volleyball team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her performances during the week ending Nov. 10. In victories over St. Edward's University and St. Mary's University, Gilbreath registered 31 total kills, averaging 4.67 kills per set and posting a .472 hitting percentage. Jane Bacon, a junior in the Angelo State University Honors Program, has been selected to attend the 2019 Student Conference on U.S. Affairs Oct. 30 - Nov. 2 at the United States Military Academy at West Point in New York. An intelligence and analysis major from Albuquerque, N.M., Bacon is one of only about 200 undergraduate students from 125 colleges and universities worldwide selected for the annual conference. The theme of this year's conference is "Advancing the National Interest: The Intersection of Domestic Politics and American Foreign Policy." The student delegates will hear from high-profile speakers, discuss and debate the impact of past and current events on U.S. national strategy, and collaborate on policy recommendations for the U.S. government. Kate Creecy, a junior in the Angelo State University Honors Program, has been named a 2019-20 Presidential Fellow by the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress (CSPC) and will attend the center's annual Fall Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., Oct. 30 - Nov. 2. A political science major from Denton, Creecy is one of only about 70 Presidential Fellows selected from universities throughout the U.S. and select foreign nations. Shelby Crockett, a graduate student in the Angelo State University Department of Agriculture, won top honors for her research presentation at the annual meeting of the Texas Section, Society for Range Management earlier this month in Kerrville. An ASU alumna from Clifton, Crocket won the Graduate Student Research Presentation Contest with her project titled "Conditioning Cattle to Consume Salt Cedar." Angelo State University's chapter of the Alpha Chi national honor society inducted 60 new student members during a special initiation ceremony on Oct. 17 in the Houston Harte University Center. Alpha Chi is one of the nation's most prestigious honor societies and is open to students majoring in any academic discipline. It has over 300 chapters nationwide with more than 400,000 members. To be eligible, students must rank in the top 10 percent of graduate students or seniors at their college or university, or in the top 7.5 percent of juniors. Kira Miller of Frisco, a goalkeeper for the Angelo State University Rambelles soccer team, has been named Lone Star Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for her performances in two ASU victories during the week ending Oct. 6. A sophomore exercise science major, Miller led the Belles to two shutout victories over Midwestern State University and Oklahoma Christian University. She faced nine shots and made four saves in a 2-0 win over MSU - and then faced seven shots and made two saves in a 2-0 win over OCU. She now has five shutouts for the season. Avery McNeme of Lubbock, a forward on the Angelo State University Rambelles soccer team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her performances during the week ending Oct. 13. A junior kinesiology major, McNeme led the Belles to victories in their two games last week over UT-Permian Basin and Lubbock Christian University. She scored both goals in the 2-0 win over UT-Permian Basin and assisted on the tying goal in the 2-1 overtime win over Lubbock Christian. Lindsey Ledyard of Cedar Park, a member of the Angelo State University Belles volleyball team, has been named Lone Star Conference Setter of the Week for her performances during the week ending Oct. 6. A junior marketing major, Ledyard totaled 54 assists over three matches as the Belles swept home victories over Lubbock Christian, UT-Permian Basin and Western New Mexico. She averaged six assists per set as the Belles' offense posted a .287 hitting percentage over the three matches. The Belles are now 13-1 overall and 5-0 in the conference. Joshua Quinton of Lubbock, a junior linebacker on the Angelo State University Rams football team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Rams' 28-6 victory over No. 14 Midwestern State University on Sept. 28. Quinton led the Rams with eight tackles and added a sack, an interception and a fumble recovery. Makenna Hanssen of San Antonio, a member of the Angelo State University Belles volleyball team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week for her performances during the week ending Sept. 22. In two ASU victories over West Texas A&M (3-1) and Eastern New Mexico (3-0), the sophomore defensive specialist recorded 38 total digs for an average of 5.43 digs per set. Kailyn Gilbreath and Lindsey Ledyard, both players on the Angelo State University Belles volleyball team, were named to the All-Tournament Team for the Mountain Lion Invitational held Sept. 12-14 in Colorado Springs, Colo., with Gilbreath also picking up MVP honors. Gilbreath, a redshirt sophomore from Fort Worth, led the Belles in kills (47) and hitting percentage (.448) over their four tournament matches. She also registered 11 digs and one solo block. Marissa Berry of Mesquite and Valerie Solis of Arlington, both players on the Angelo State University Rambelles soccer team, have been named Lone Star Conference Players of the Week for their performances during the week ending Sept. 8. Berry, a sophomore defender, was named LSC Defensive Player of the Week. She led a Belles defensive effort that allowed only seven shots on goal over two games against Fort Lewis College and New Mexico Highlands University. Both games ended in shutout wins for ASU. Solis, a freshman midfielder, was named LSC Offensive Player of the Week. She scored four goals on just five shots over the two games, including two goals in each game. Parker Bramlett of Bullard, an infielder on the Angelo State University Rams baseball team, earned All-West Coast League honorable mention honors after helping lead the Victoria HarbourCats to a 39-15 record and a spot in the 2019 WCL Championship finals. The WCL is a summer league for college players. In 35 games for the HarbourCats, Bramlett posted a .304 batting average with one home run, 16 RBI, 29 walks and a team-high 23 stolen bases. He also set a new HarbourCats single-season record for stolen bases. For the ASU Rams in 2019, Bramlett posted a .330 batting average with 43 RBI and 18 stolen bases in 55 games to earn first-team All-Lone Star Conference and LSC All-Defensive Team honors.
